Today I received an overdraft notice from a bank account I have that is used only to receive my VA disabilty benefits. The notice stated that the debit was from Cybernet/AVS ID/07XXXX for $19.95.

Since this is not my primary account and I don't EVER make payments from it, this raised a red flag for me. I called my bank to ask about the charges. I wanted to make sure that I hadn't made a charge and forgot about it so I obtained the trace information from bank.

The trace led me to contact Bank of the West; they eventually told me that I could reach Cybernet at 888-235-4635. Turns out that this number was for ACH Direct, a company that processes ACH debits for other companies. ACH said they had no record of this transaction and gave me another number to call (800-561-6114), they said that it was the number for Cybernet.

When I called Cybernet, they and told them of my problem, they asked, "How does our company appear on your statement?" When I told them "Cybernet/AVS" they said that this was not their company, that their charges appear as "Cybernet Ventures". They the proceeded to say that they would look up my information if I would give them my account #. I promptly told them that I would NOT divulge my account information. The CSR then said that she couldn't help me, so I ended the call.

After my experience and reading other complaints on this website, I am very confident that Cybernet is a big scam! I have not solicited any services from them, so I will be filing a form with my bank to attempt to get my money back (although my bank said something about them not being liable for web based charges.) We'll see about that! I am certainly not going to liable for fraudulent charges, regardless of where they came from.
