On January 20th, 2012 D&N presented my 2006 Trail Vision Camper Trailer to me as complete as I had brought it to them several days before for a roof repair.  .  D&N personnel appeared desperate for me to retrieve my 2006 Trail Vision Trail Lite Camper trailer that evening and not the following Saturday morning.  The next morning I inspected the work they performed, in the light of day, and found several deficiencies.  Unfortunately for me, D&N Camper Sales Service Department is closed on the weekends so the first opportunity to contact them about the issues was January 23rd, 2012.

They replaced/repaired the rubber roof, installed a supposedly "new/4 month" old awning, installed a "new" anti-sway device among other things.  The rubber roof was improperly calked as several locations had been missed, a 1/8" hole was missed being calked at the right front of the trailer roof, and the "new" anti-sway bar was well rusted on the inside as well as several locations on the outside indicating that the product was, in fact, a used component retrieved from another unit which had spent a considerable amount of time outside in the weather.    The end of the anti-sway bar was painted with silver spray paint in an attempt to make the unit appear newer than it was.

The awning, which we were told was like new, has a broken component on the end of one of the arms, the lifting arms have surface rust, and the awning material appears weathered indicating that the unit is far older than four months.  All model/serial identification stickers have been removed from the unit making it interestingly difficult for the maker, Dometic, to determine the age of the unit.  When installing the awning their workers drilled large metal lag bolts through the inside of the trailer walls ruining the inner panels.  Since the screws pierced the panels it has now necessitated the removal and replacement of the front bedroom panel as well as the rear bathroom panel.  In order to remove these panels both the front bedroom cabinets as well as the tub, vanity, etc, in the rear of the unit will need to be removed.  In my opinion, their work is sub-standard and their business practices are questionable.

All that I am asking for is the dollar amount refunded to me that it would take to replace the inner panels that were destroyed when their workers made the mistake and drilled through them.  Redding RV, has provided an over the phone estimate of around $1,500 to restore the unit to the condition it was in before D&N workers damaged it.  I do not trust the workmanship and I do not feel that D&N is truly competent to perform the repairs needed to restore my property back to the condition before they damaged it.  I, at this time, am not even looking for compensation for the missed calking or for the potential trickery concerning the age of the awning or anti-sway bar.  All I want is enough to have another competent repair facility restore my camper to the condition it was in before D&N damaged the unit.  D&N has admitted their mistake and offered to make the repairs but I simply cannot trust this company again.

Sincerely,

Bill M

Response to pure fiction and fantasy

An entire permanent record of the situation can be found with the Tennessee Division of Consumer Affairs redressing the rather enjoyable fictional comments made by David Davis of Davis motorhome. The permanent record, maintained with the fine State of Tennessee, speaks for itself.

As always, Mr. Davis, it is a joy to spar with you but what you cannot alter are the photographs of your fine craftsmanship.

I also have maintained all records, photographs and physical evidence for future reference.

Your Loyal Customer,

Bill McAllister

This customer actually came to our dealership on January 19th at approximately 4:00 pm to inspect his trailer. After about an hour and a half of inspection,he determined we installed the wrong fantastic fan that he wanted.we asked him to come back tommorrow, the 20th,and we would have the correct fan installed and he agreed to this.We did not have the fan in stock,so we went to another dealer, bought a fan and installed it before noon on Friday the 20th.This customer told us he would be ther to pick it up around noon.He showed up around 4:00 once again and inspected his trailer for about an hour and a half.We never rushed him or acted desperate for him to pick up his trailer,in fact,we stayed after closing time both days for him.

As you can see, there was plenty of daylight on these two days.He contacted our service manager a couple of days later and discussed the caulk issues and two lag bolts we ran through his interior walls while installing his awning. We immediately apologized and told him we would correct any issues we caused .He said he really didn't want to drag his trailer back up there, and if we would send him 50.00 dollars he would fix it himself. We sent him the money HE asked for.

A few days later,he again contacted our service manager about a broken part at the bottom of his awning arm. This customer walked around his trailer twice at the dealership, and had it at home for several days before notifing us of any damage.Tere is no way this part was broken before he took delivery, but in good faith,i offered to sell him the part for 10.00 and it was a 35.00 part.He was also fully aware this was a used awning, and we absolutley did not pull any serial number stickers off of it .As far as the anti sway goes,we handed it to him in the box it came in.If it had rust on it,it came in new that way.We also offered to excahange it.

The bottom line is we did damage two of his interior panels and offered to fix them.He was fine with everything until i would not give him the part on his awning for free that was damaged at his home.He wrote letters to the Better Business Bureau and Tennessee consumer affairs and lost both cases. We have been in business for over thirty years and have the highest rating with the BBB and Good Sams. This is the first and only complaint on this site as well.I believe this goes to show the character of the person filing this complaint.

Thank you
