I have a 2006 Dodge Ram Diesel Truck that had problems smoking, running rough, and died several times while I was taking it into the Dallas Dodge dealership for repair. The mechanic at Dallas Dodge ultimately said that I had a tank full of bad diesel that had destroyed my entire fuel injection system. The repair would not be covered under warranty and it would be a $10,000.00 bill!

I contacted my insurance company for their help. They sent an independent testing lab out, who took diesel samples for testing. The results were all fuel within industry standards, and the insurance would not cover the repairs. Dallas Dodge would not cover the repairs either.

My lawyer suggested I go to another mechanic for a second opinion to see who was lying. The second mechanic put the truck on a diagnostic computer that said the problem was the high pressure fuel sensor on the fuel rail. This mechanic replaced the sensor and also noted that the electronic plug on the old sensor was wet and corroded. The second mechanic also drove the truck for several days, no other problems. I contacted Dallas Dodge explained that the truck was fixed, asked to have the old part put back so they could cover the warranty. Dallas Dodge refused.

My lawyer suggested I drive the truck for about a month to make sure it is repaired. It has been 6 weeks, the truck runs better that it ever has, even better milage. I think the sensor must have been bad the entire time I've had this truck.

I contacted Dallas Dodge again asking them to cover my expenses for the repair that should have been covered under warranty. ($1323.67 for the second mechanic's repairs, and $114.95 for Dallas Dodge's "Service"). Dallas Dodge still refuses to cover my costs. They stated that they will stand on what they told me to begin with, it's only a matter of time. I wonder if someone comes in for a tune up, if they will ask to rebuild the entire engine? After all, if someone drives it long enough it will eventually wear out and need replacing.

Today, the General Manager, and two Service Managers along with a person from Chrysler Warranty called me to discuss my problems. Long an Short of it, they will reimburse me for my repair cost at the other Mechanic in a "Good Faith Effort." But they will also flag my truck for any issues related to the engine or fuel system which will reqire Chrysler Warranty to inspect it before they rule if it will be covered under warranty.
