Dalton James Bateman, Dalton James Plantagenet, Charismatic Con Man, Fraudster Extraordinaire, Gainesville Florida

This happended in about early 2012. I was good friends with Dalton James Bateman AKA Dalton James Plantagenet for 2 years before he conned me out of $5000. He also conned a mutual friend out of another $5000 at the same time. It was to be an investment in an internet services company he was forming. But he never had any intention of using the money for that. He instead he used it to pay his personal expenses and, most ironically twisted of all, for a company launch party that featured every comer getting a bottle of champagne.

Dalton has paid back $1680 of the $5000. The last payment was in Dec of 2012. I still get the occassional message from him saying that he'll be paying me back soon. I just laugh now. If I had a nickle for every time he said that, I'd be paid back by now.

Dalton is a very likeable person. He is smart, quick, and well spoken. It is these qualities that make him effective. Yes I was close friends with him for 2 full years before this happened. And during that time he showed no signs of being a con man. But since then, I have heard of many other stories. I'm labeling them as hearsay because I don't have first hand knowledge of them, but they include:

-Promising website work, getting paid, and never delivering (different than the previously submitted Ripoff Report

-Lying about his sister being in a terrible car wreck in order to get out of something

-Stealing from his place of work

-Another instance of stealing from his place of work

-Purchasing a gift with the debit card of the person he gave the gift to without their knowledge

I had hoped Dalton could turn it around, but I'm afraid he has not. And now every time I hear another story about some dispicable thing he's done I beat myself up for not having been more vocal about him. Everyone in Gainesville needs to know about this guy. When I saw his rebuttal to the previous Ripoff Report I was prompted to write this. I know this report won't get a rebuttal because I have written records of everything.
