Dan Crum runs a number of companies out of his home. One of them is "Crest Consulting" and another is "American Residential Solutions" (ARS for short).
Starting in Feb '05, Dan contracted my company to save an offshored project which was plagued with bugs, low quality code, and a variety of other problems. Although the initial contract was signed with "Crest Consulting", the contract specifies that the proceeds would be used in order so my wife and I could purchase my first home. The first phase of the contract wrapped up and he requested another round of work. After completing that, my wife and I found the place we wanted to buy.
At this point, he informed me that I needed to use his wife as my Realtor in order to collect the credit. As the closing approached, we discovered that "our agent" had done nothing and nearly lost the place at the closing table. After they cashed the check, we contacted them to receive the refund. They refused.
I filed complaints against both of them and started gathering information. Unfortunately for them, I have definitive proof of my signature being forged on closing documents and contracts.
I finally went to a mediator with him in order to reach resolution and end this terrible relationship. He finally offered 1/6th of the final amount and proceeded to threaten me if I did not accept his offer. I've sent a collection agency after him without success and they suggested court asap.
If you ever have the opportunity to work with Dan Crum / Crest Consulting / American Residential Solutions... run like hell.

Dear Keith,
Being a former Realtor(R), I was curious if you have tried to contact the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors concerning this "agent"?
In addition, having formerly done judgment recovery as well, you do not need a collection agency to go after the money you are owed. If you have a court order or decree from the courts that you are owed an amount by these people, you have several ways of obtaining the monies on your own.
Did either of these people alter any of the closing documents (other than forgery)? If so, in Virginia, that is considered as practicing law without a license, you may want to speak with an attorney or the Virginia Bar Association as to how to go about that complaint.
I am not trying to provide any legal consultation, as I am not a lawyer, but I am concerned that you be aware of your options.

Just in case an attorney wants to get into this, the total of the first contract was over $3k, I've had another $500 in out of pocket expenses, and have spent over $3k in time away from my small business.
I also have supporting documents including but not limited to:
a) a signed contract,
b) a signed invoice accepting the work,
c) emails confirming the payment arrangement,
d) emails confirming the wife's involvement, and
e) the documents with the forged signatures - which show an *identical* version of my signature no less than 6 times - as in identical to the pixel.
