Advertise on the internet that they are a loving, caring breeder of labradoodles and goldendoodles.
Visit them first before providing a deposit. You will be unpleasantly surprised with the conditions. More than 60 puppies were on the premises, with one adult human inadequately attending to all of the dogs and puppies.
The puppies are kept in the small wire cages they are born in until they are 6 - 8 weeks old and are then shipped to their "adopted" homes. As a result, many pups have broken limbs from getting them stuck in the wire bottom of the cage. The mother's are forced to stay in the cages with their pups - being let out only to defecate.
When we arrived unexpectedly, there was a b***h giving birth - in extreme pain - and the multiple other cages we could see had no water or food for the pups or mom's. The puppy mill owner was on her way out - leaving the b***h to fend for herself.
Dogs and pups appeared to be very hungry. When food was present, four week old pups with no teeth were supplied with dry dog food.
The puppy mill is run by two women - a mother and daughter team. The mother appears to do the work, while the daughter is internet savvy and writes glowing reports on the progress of the puppies within the puppy mill.
Mother admitted to owning 22 adult dogs (various breeds, but mostly goldendoodles or labradoodles of some sort), yet lives on what appears to be less than an acre of land in a very small bungalow.
Puppies receive no human socialization. They are fearful of human touch.

Our experience with Dare to Dream

AUTHOR: lladybug - (Canada)

POSTED: Sunday, March 05, 2017

We purchased our Australian Labradoodle from Dare to Dream nealry six years ago and the experience was quite similar. We love our dog. Lacey is so smart and gentle.  We get compliments everywhere we go. We love her dealy.   But sadly she has a lot of health issues. Firstly she was diagnosed with IBD  with a meat allergy and is now on a veg diet.  She has an allergy to bee stings. We found this out when she was stung and became quite sick and started having breathing issues.  And lst week she was diagnosed with petite mal epilepsy after having 3 seizures over the past year.  Our vet advised us that the reason for all the health issues is because the Sire has been overbred.  We have spent over 10,000 dollars on her health so far. When you purchase a dog you are promising to take good care of her and you do that out of love. It is so sad that this happens and it is so unfair for the dog. All I am saying is be careful. I would not purchase from the mother or daughter again.

We got an amazing puppy from Doodlelane

AUTHOR: Jane Doe - ()

POSTED: Sunday, February 22, 2015

Our labradoodle was born in May 2012, and we got it from the daughter (Dare to Dream Labradoodles). He is the best dog ever, amazing temper and personality. Sure, the breeders can seem at times disorganized. Our dog also has some minor health issues, but not because of anything the dog experienced as a puppy (he has a sensitive stomach but he's fine if he only eats his kibble). I wouldn't hesitate to buy another puppy from the same breeder. My only issue is that the puppies are spayed/neutered at a very young age, but the vets who perform it swear the operation doesn't have any long-term effects.

Malicious Report

AUTHOR: dkerr75 - ()

POSTED: Thursday, June 05, 2014

We purchased a puppy from Doodlelane last summer. Before doing so my husband and I met with Dare to Dream Labradoodles to assess their suitability as a breeder. Prior to that we interviwed other breeders in the area and ruled them out due to cncerns about the environment in which the pups were being raised. None of the breeders we met was operating a puppy mill, but we chose Dare to Dream and Doodlelane as being superior in every way. All their pups are raised in the home and are treated as family pets. Both homes are clean and all adult dogs appeared to be well socialized and in good health. Most importantly, they were part of the family. We planned this purchase over a year in advance, so we would have the pick of the litter. We were struck by the commitment of both families (mother and daughter) to raising healthy, balanced pups. Both homes were pretty spotless and well set up for multiple dogs.

When we got our pup, one of the things we noticed is that this pup had obviously been handled appropriately from day 1. We could touch and handle her paws without her even noticing. Most dogs do not like their paws being handled, so this was noticeable. Also, this pup was extremely comfortable with having a bath and was complete;y calm when I used the blowdryer. Linda told me she had given this pup about 8 baths, not because she needed them, but because the pup was being socialized to accept the bathing process easily. This breeded had done her homework. A bath was a complete non-event and it still is. This is extremely valuable to a new owner.

We did change her food to a brand our vet recommended. Nothing wrong with what the breeder had used, but we slowly introduced the brand favoured by our vet. Our pup also had ear mites. I notified the breeder right away so she could have our pups siblings checked. Linda was mortified that she had ear mites and said she'd have the others checked right away. I believe her. These things can happen. Fortunately, I am an experienced dog owner so I had our pup checked by our vet within days of bringing her home. Ear mites are easily treated. When you have a houseful of dogs, this kind of thing can happen.

In summary, I would say that the report on thiese 2 businesses is malicious and unwarranted. These 2 women are kind, considerate and have high breeding standards. Purchasers are carefully screened. We screened the breeders very carefully and these 2 stood out as understanding the genetics of the breed and maintaining high standards. My husband and I are careful, principled dog owners with strong views about what constitutes a responsible breeder. They passed or test with flying colours. The malicious report on these women is unconscionable. Unfortunately, anyone can put what they want on the internet. Visit for yourself to determine if they meet your standards. You'll be glad you did.

This puppy mill needs to be shut down.

AUTHOR: Lindsay - ()

POSTED: Monday, March 17, 2014

The original complaint is absolutely correct. This a puppy mill!

The comment above about broken limbs is absolutely correct. Oliver has trouble walking for longer than 20 minutes before he starts to limp and he's barely 2 years old!

Here's my story about our Oliver:

After the pups were born (and I had already put a $500 deposit on the mutt) , we went to visit them around their 2nd week birthday.

We drove out to the breeder where the owner said her Mom (hereinafter referred to as the Warden ) was looking after the pups. There was a $60K Hummer in the driveway - owned by the "breeder".

We were shocked to find a veritable FACTORY of puppies. Small cages everywhere - dozens of puppies - with the poor Mom dogs locked in the cages with them. Nowhere to lie down (the cages had wire bottoms which the pups kept getting their legs stuck in - yelping in pain).

Dozens more full grown dogs were wandering around the main floor of the house - peeing wherever they felt like it.

The Warden was non-plussed. She was much more interested in telling us her life story. Single Mom, four adult kids, all ungrateful. The oldest "kid" was her boss - the brains behind the puppy mill. "I have to take orders from my own kid!"

The Warden picks up her other lazy lout kids anytime of the day or night, anywhere - doesn't want them driving drunk. Sometimes the louts go and stay with their Dad, but their Dad doesn't want them. A couple of days later - he sends them packing - back to the puppy factory.

Even though I had paid the deposit already, I should have just left - leaving my poor creature to whatever miserable life was his lot, but I didn't.

Instead, I fell in love with a sad little guy and picked him out of the other sad little faces. The Warden picked up the 2 week old little guy and pushed him into my hands. I committed to him - committed to the worms and disease and malnutrition and trauma that I knew were about to come for him in the next six weeks before he could come home.

We went back a few weeks later. This time, the Warden wasn't expecting us (although we had confirmed with the Boss Daughter that we would be there) and she was just about to leave.

Again, a full grown Golden stuck to us - begging me with her eyes and wagging tail to release her from this Hell. A full grown Poodle sat on my partner's foot - hoping that by doing so he couldn't leave without taking him with him.

The Warden admitted (willingly) to having 22 adult dogs living there. An unknown number of puppies. She was pretty miffed that she hadn't been told we were coming - but not because she was embarassed by the conditions we found, but because she wanted to go out, and now couldn't.

The pup we had chosen was in it's wire cage with the 7 others in the litter. No water, no food. I picked him up and he lay perfectly still - no wriggling that you would expect from a 5 week old puppy - nothing. I handed him to my partner to take pictures. Again, he lay still - not looking towards my voice. Was he blind? Was he deaf? Or was he just terrified, dehydrated, and starving?

I wondered aloud if he was alright. The Warden then brought water and some kibble to the cage. The kibble was hard - and I asked how they eat kibble when they don't have teeth. She roughly picked up a pup - and showed me it's gums - "they're hard enough to chew". The pups lapped up the water, and tried, but couldn't, eat the dry dog food.

I couldn't sleep for days after. I will pick up my pup at 8 weeks - and hopefully his beginnings won't mean lifelong issues, but since he was bred for profit and nothing else, I don't have high hopes.

Dare to Dream Labradoodles Update

AUTHOR: Puppy mill complaint - (Canada)

POSTED: Saturday, July 07, 2012

Someone responded that the puppy mill owner I was complaining about couldn't possibly be the same "breeder" that they got their dog from.

To them I say....

Reputable breeders don't breed their bitches 6 or 7 times in a row. The mother of the puppy I bought is now on her 5th litter and she is barely 3 years old.

Reputable breeders don't have 22 adult dogs and 60 or more live puppies at any given time.

Reputable breeders try to socialize the puppies, which means they need human touch and can't be left in a small cage with their littermates (as many as 12 or 13!) for the first  8 weeks of their lives.

Reputable breeders don't have two websites spreading out the number of puppies they have available so people don't think they're a puppy mill. (But they are.)

I hope the local humane society shuts them down soon.

Doodlelane

AUTHOR: cmcalpine - (Canada)

POSTED: Monday, January 30, 2012

I have no idea what breeder you went to but it definetly was not doodlelane. I have two dogs from doodlelane and one is a guardian dog who has had two litters of puppies. While my dog was with the breeder raising her puppies I visited her everyday and never ever saw anything that resembled a puppy mill!!!!!  The breeder has a two story house and has two huge runs for the dogs to go outside. All of the dogs are well cared for and well socialized. The mother dogs are given as much freedom as they want but most of the mothers like to only leave their puppies long enough to go outside and then they want to go back to their puppies. I cannot believe that you wrote about puppies with broken limbs! If you knew this breeder at all you would know how much she loves her dogs. I am a huge dog lover and would never buy a dog from  a puppy mill! I hope that no one pays any attention to your slander of this breeder!
