In 2006, I invested over $500,000 with Darin Pastor. At the time Pastor was managing mutual funds for Citizens Bank Financial Services in Buffalo, NY. I was sold Oppenheimer Funds, specifically the Rochester Municipal Fund. Pastor never believed I had over a half of million dollars to invest in the beginning, I should have headed elsewhere.
I had advised Pastor that I was a very conservative investor, wanting minimal risk. Pator had advised me that the Rochester Municipal Fund, [RMUCX] was the most conservative, and also the most safe as far as invesments go. Pastor assured me that "come hell or high water" my portfolio would not lose. He went as far as telling me I would receive bonds in the mail from the municipalities [ which was later bogus ] since I was investing in muncipal funds. Those never showed.
Pastor then convinced me to invest with him at Chase Manhattan Bank. He had found a new job with them and was doing the same as he did with Citizens. The portfolio did poorly, and little to no gain was made over 2 years time.
In October 2008, I lost over $117,000.00 to Darin Pastor and Oppenheimer. As I was losing thousands per day,
[ as much as $30,000.00 one day ] I was assured by Darin Pastor that the portfolio would "eventually come back" and "not to worry" I advised Pastor of 2 things, 1. This wasn't play money 2. I was sold and frauded on the idea that this was "the most conservative investment".
After 2 weeks the portfolio was down to $383,000.00 I advised Pastor to sell immediately. Pastor did not sell until the next day, when another $12,000 was lost. By then I was physically sick. I was not only conned by Oppenheimer, but I was frauded by Darin Pastor.
I reached out to Pastor several times and my calls were ignored. Things got so bad that I had to skip trace Pastor to California, where he had found a new job.
I have pictures and records of all my business with Pastor, please contact me if you would like documentation. I was recently told that Pastor can be personally liable for his wrongdoings, and I intend on pursuing him in court for my damages.
Do not under any circumstance, invest with Capstone Financial Group, or Darin Pastor.

UPDATE

I regret and apologize for the intemperate language I used in my original post about Darin Pastor and his new firm Capstone Financial Group, Inc. Darin advised me to purchase the Rochester Municipal Fund shares in 2006; like many municipal bond funds, it lost value in the 2008 financial crisis, and I sold my shares in 2008. It fully recovered all its lost value by late 2009 and has gone higher since. In 2015, I amicably resolved all matters with Darin and the well-known firms he worked for then.
Sincerely,
Lucas J. Teter
