I am currently living overseas and left a car for use to my daughter in my absence. This situation begins with an oil changes at a popular location in Austin, I won't mention their name, since my complaint is not with them this time; however it seems that they stripped the oil pan cap, which led to other problems, ultimately, oil began to leak from the oil pan because of the stipped cap.
I informed my daughter that I would locate a "used parts" dealer online and have a oil pan sent to her in Austin. Well, I have to admit that I was not experienced in online dealings with this matter, but I had up to this point, much success with online transactions.

I located a dealer, AutoSite, and spoke with Dave who stated that he had the part. I asked for a number to contact him to complete the transaction and he assured me that his parts are guaranteed, and can and would be mailed to any address of my request. The used oil pan came to 58.00, he requested a credit card, but I thought about it and decided against so I sent a money order to a POB address.

Well months past and no oil pan. I attempted to contact the individual via email and phone calls to no avail. I even sent a letter of complaint to the FDC and requested a copy of the money order thinking that possibly it had gotten lost. Needless to say the money order was cashed, but I could not reach anyone to find out why the oil pan was never recieved.

The FDC or Federal Consumers Office, was not able to make contact either, but I did however file a complaint with the BBB.

Thankfully it was only 58.00, but it was my 58.00 and I am so happy that I did not give them a credit card number. I still needed the oil pan, I paid for it and I expected delivery. This is a bonafied RIPOFF and I will never again use the internet to transact business in this way.
This sort of things makes it difficult for respectful companies to make money online.
