As of May 2008, I decided to have a Surgery done for myself.. A gift for my 40th Birthday that was long awaited after raising a family of three daughters.. Which are now in college.
I saved money to get a tummy tuck for which I thought, I could trust a supposedly well known surgeon Dr. David Kaufman, in Folsom California,.. Well apparently due to the fact that my high blood pressure was too high, the doctor & staff decided that I needed to re-schedule my surgery two months away.. Well, due to the fact that my house was just foreclosed on, and I had to abruptly move and get another house, needless to say, I was very overwhelmed with personal issues..
I knew as per my contract, I would lose my deposit of 400.00 to "hold" my date for surgery. As per my contract, that was all I would lose. I have that stated in my contract..
But, Dr.Kaufman as well as the Accountant took a vacation and sent me an email. As per his email statements, ("We only held back $2,394. We have discussed this matter at length at the California Society of Plastic Surgeons, because although thankfully this is an uncommon problem, there is certainly precedent - both legally and administratively. I have run this by our practice attorney, and was advised that we were on solid ground - even if we were to withhold the entire fee for surgery. Situations of this exact nature have been heard by the courts, and they have repeatedly sided with the surgeons - in that time is a commodity which cannot be recovered when patients change their minds"..)
I DID NOT CHANGE MY MIND..As per Dr.Kaufman, he states I have no case....So in essence, I have lost what I worked so hard to save....It may be small for him, but alot for a hardworking person...

Im a current patient of Kaufman & Clark Plastic Surgery Center; I recently had breast lift with augmentation, as well as abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) . I was surprised to see the Ripoff Report website pop up during a search for their Kaufman & Clarks website. Anyone who is considering these surgeons for any type of treatment should not consider the listed report as a deterrent.
If the contracts were not clear in 2008, they are now. As is normal for all contracts, there is a cancellation policy. If you have to reschedule your surgery, there is a fee; if you cancel without enough notice, you lose the money paid for the surgery. These doctors schedule the very best care for their patients, including top notch Anesthesiologists and Trauma Nurses in the event there is any type of emergency. If a patient cancels their surgery without time for the Center to book another patient, the Center loses money. The information is clearly outlined and is a fair practice.
My results are honestly amazing. The care provided by Dr. Clark and the staff has been highly impressive. They are kind, compassionate, meticulous surgeons. They are so great, that Im taking the time to refute this report from 2008. Not only are they great with their paying patients, they also travel the world with other non-profit doctors donating their time for adults and children who have debilitating cleft palates and tumors... they aren't trying to steal from anyone.
If Dr. Kaufman only held back $2,394, that is only about the portion paid to the surgical staff (this was outlined in my surgery fee break down) -that would in NO WAY include the doctor's fees. It seems as though Dr. Kaufman took a loss due to the surgery being canceled. That's not a ripoff.
