We hired David L. King for a home renovation project in March, 2007. After 7 months of frustration and lack of progress, we terminated his contract. At this point, we paid him $6112.00 for so-called schematic drawings which were so basic that they were beyond useless. He failed to understand zoning and set back laws and regulations, failed to abide by our budget, and had no understanding of building and construction. We decided to cut our losses and find another, more competent architect.
A few months later, David King filed a law suit demanding more than $28,000 for his time. We have spent more money on legal fees because we refuse to pay him a cent more! DO NOT HIRE! He is clueless and incompetent. He misleads clients of his qualification and then sues for more money. It is incredible how he continues to waste more of our time and our hard earned money!
I hope this complaints protect others from bad architects like David King and warns innocent consumers.

We dispute all of the negative and disparaging allegations
in this report. The author voluntarily tried to withdraw the report on 6/10/08,
but ripoffreport does not allow postings to be removed, regardless of their
veracity. We have never encountered a response like this in nine years, despite
having completed numerous projects in the Boston area; We have excellent
references and internet reviews.
All of the projects shown on our website deal with the
issues of zoning, code regulations and the process of construction. We are a
referral-based business and depend on the goodwill of our clients. Hence, we
try to treat them with the utmost fairness and respect, and work with them to
create excellent projects.

Not recommended. Unsatisfactory rating with Better Business Bureau. We hired King to do our home renovation project and terminated his services after months of frustration. We had so many concerns with his designs, concepts and layout. Simple things like a bedroom door was left out. He could not tell us the total square footage when asked. It became clear that King had very little understanding for building and construction. He also did not abide by zoning laws. We truly got concerned when he continued to ignore our budget. Considering the fees King was charging, we got ripped-off. We were left with useless pieces of paper. We strongly warn other homeowners to be aware of architects like King.
