A car was advertised for sale in 'The Advertiser'. We contacted the seller and some details were exchanged. The seller then emailed us and advised that the vehicle had been left to him from his Uncle's Will and that he had no need for the car. He advised that we needed to sign up to AlertPay where they would hold the money until we were satisfied with the car. We had 5 days to go over the car.

We signed up with AlertPay. We contacted the seller. He took a couple of days to respond and when he did he advised that he had to move to England for his job and that he had to obtain special permission to sell the vehicle whilst he was out of Australia.

We told him that we had signed up with AlertPay and then he requested what email address it had been set up with so that he could then put the details through to AlertPay. We then got an email from AlertPay advising how to pay for the vehicle and that the money would be held until we were satisfied with our purchase.

Off we went to the bank and did the transfer as requested. We transferred the amount of $13,500.00. We have not been able to get hold of the seller, we have not seen the car, AlertPay have advised that the problem could be with the transport company, we cannot contact the transport company. We have been scammed out of our money for a car that we really needed and stretched our savings to be able to purchase it.
