I do not understand how Hughsnet, and many, many others can continue to do business in America. The advertisement is so impressive as to make you think this is the answer to remote area high speed internet when in fact there may be one or more options. The problem is not rather they are the only choice, and they may very well be, but as to entice you to trust what they say will be what you get. Let's start from the beginning.

YOU READ THE WELL WORDED AD and it sounds good. Right? You call and get someone immediately to take your order. They go for the spill on script as they read, BLAH BLAH BLAH in an accent you barely understand not asking what your needs are or what you may need to fulfill those needs and the cost associated with them. But you bite. You give them what they ask for and an agreement is made Or so you think. Only on your part. Not theirs.

They may say you get high speed internet at a certain MPS with a certain data plan. Now. What does that mean to the average consumer? Well, not much for the unsavy and unsuspecting. They will tell you anything to get your credit or debit card number and then the game begins.

Once they have your order, and your bank information often more than not from the Phillipines where consumer fraud protection is non existant, you are subject to rapid and random billing at their descretion. With little and often no service, and when there is actual service is so substandard that you wish you had dial-up again only then will you begin to visit your bank statement on a daily basis. Oh are you supprised now? And the bank, no matter who or how long you've banked with honors any and all charges  sent through. Remember, you gave them your card number. Therefore it is on you. Then try to dispute it. Even if you can prove it is an error on their part. Or yet worse. Fraudulent charges.

You, my friend, are in for an unpleasant supprise as if you can't guess already. You have just been scammed out of your money to the tune of whatever they submit. Anything they can and will make up will come out of your account. Even if you elect to not option the automatic monthly billing to save $5.00 per month. The only solution? Close the account and go somewhere else. Forget throwing a fit. I tried that. With them and the bank I have been with so long. So what now? You can't pay your electric bill, or feed your kids, or yourself. Oh well. Maybe chill and drink a beer. Maybe not then.

This is not an isolated problem but most companies that are truly American based with American customer service will recognize that this will not be tolerated and there may be criminal action taken against them. Oh but not in the Phillipines. They are untouchable. Or so they think.

Soon enough, but maybe not, Americans are going to fight back in whatever way they can. Or is actually too late? Maybe not if all ban together. But how? That, my friend is a good question and the only way I can come up with an answer is to research before you make a decision to purchase any thing or service online. It's not that hard to do. And stop doing business with them. Most of all, spread the word. If not just person to person, sound off on the internet. That is if you can get a connection. It has to make a difference in time. But only together. When is enough enough? NOW I say.

That's all folks. I am just tired of being drilled in the wrong place by the wrong people. I live on retirement that I earned but there are plenty out there that can't give a hoot. As long as they get theirs they get paid well. If you continue to honor these practices then I have to say "you deserve it then". Be another victim to consumer fraud and let them profit from you and others.  We never actually learn. Do we?
