Dean Mitchell Group, LLC Dean Mitchell Restoration, Abbie Laureano, Abimael Laureano showed up late, left early, took over 2 months to do a weeks work, made my family live on streets due to incompetance and non-caring of Abbie, and entire company's lack of morals Riviera Beach/ MIami Florida

These guys smile a lot.  They do NOT know how to do their job: mold remediation.  They are better suited as a low-level moving company.  They UNECESSARILY packed up my entire 2 babys bathroon and threw most of it into our office.  NO MOLD REMEDIATION needed to take place, nor did it ever take place in the baby's bedroom.  THe only areas ever worked on: Master Bath and kitchen. 

They moved our entire living roon into the dinding room, making using either room impossible as we lived in a small townhome.  The main guy, Abbie, kept telling our insurance adjuster that the project would be done withinh a week.  SO our insurance adjuster followed accordingly and would only give us a hotel unitll that date.  This happened during Christmas time, so most hotels were booked, and if it wasn't for family, b/c of Abbie, and Dean MItchell's lack of competance AND concern, we would have been HOMELESS!!!!

What they did: Removed the mold from the kitchen.  Removed a VERY small piece of the mold from the master bath.  THEN, after Abbie took a mystery vacation, wouldbn't answer my phone calls or emails,  and then suddenly this Chris guy was calling my wife with updates.......WHAT?!?!  We had a mold infested house, STILL.  So after getting the mold testing company (completely separate expense) to comfirm mold, SEVERSL weeks after the initial removal, they removed the rest of the mold, AFTER my wife and I came in and they still hadn't done their job compeltely or coreectly.  They still had to remove the tub from the master bath a remove the wall that testing for mold was actually done on.  These people removed every wall but he one tested for mold.  WOW!!!!!!!

BIG CONS: Damaged MUCH of my home incuding: kitchen cabinets, 2 sets of blinds, (one has been competely ripped off, anchor and all), a small table, and a bumch of other personal items, some of which I have not found yet.

They took ALL of our personal items from the mold infested bathroom and placed them  in our office, along with the entire contens of my 2 baby's bedroom.  Several items including a used bar of soap (no packaging), and our tootbrushes were simply thrown on the floor in the back of the office closet.  A plastic cup containing mold was thron on the floor next to my desk.  I'm sure I will discover more as time goes on, and we can start putting more things away. 

They NEver came befroe 11:30 am, would take an hour lunch, and be gone before 3:30 pm. No reputable company or person would work like this.

The complaints could go on and on with these scum-bags.  But suffice it to say: if you want mold removal done correctly, the first time, and within a reasonable timeframe, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They do not have souls.  Who could leave that much mold in a home with 2 babys?  My oldest is 2 years old, my youngest is 1.  I have to say the hardest part of this experience was staying in a fillthy disgusting hotel that the staff NEVER cleaned, nor did they throw away our garbage from the garbage can. 

We all had to go the hospital, and when we retuurned TWO days later, the remaining vomit was still on the floor (we cleaned up what we could) and they had nor thrown out the garbage with paper towels full of my daugters vomit. It smelled like vomit and we all had to sleep there.  That is what you get when you hire "Dean Mitchell" for anything; mold removal, restoration, painting, and anything.  BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!

One more thing: They are based in Riviera Beach, but will accept a job anywhere, Miami like me, or I'm sure anywhere else in South Florida like Ft. Lauderdale, Hallandale, Homestead, RedLands, Perrine, Broward or Dade County.  They CANNOT handle the jobs they take on, NOR do they know how to do them correctly.  I had to become a mold hunter and hold their hand throught the removal process.  If I knew in the beginning how easy it was, I would have simply done it myself, in probably 2 or 3 days maximum.  No joke.

ALso, I'm SURE if we did not withhold the payment from the insureance company to Dean Mitchell, the job may have never been done, and I GUARANTEE that after the first half-a**ed "removal" they would NEVER have come back to complete the job at all.  SCUM!!!!

No New Management - same old BS

“These guys smile a lot.” This was the very first sentence in my report.  These people are Master Manipulators, and will tell you EXACTLY what you want to hear.  Especially if you are desperate, they will take full advantage of you.  They will tell you, “We will put in Hepa-Filters right away, b/c of the little ones” (children).  Then when you hire them to do the job, suddenly the Hepa-Filters are not available.  Not to mention they will show you the blue pre-filters they are putting in new, and say they are Hepa-Filters.  They are not. They are pre filters.  Hepa-Filters are very expensive, so to maximize profits, companies like this use them job after job, which is against protocol.  Using Hepa-Filters job after job spreads the mold from one home to the next, and there is not enough room for the Hepa-Filter to trap the necessary mold spores.  Trapping mold spores is the reason Hepa-Filters are used. 

After voicing my concerns to Abbie about not enough of the Master Bath being removed, and “still being able to smell fumes of mold heavily”, Abbie yelled at me and said “Let me do my job!”  WEEKS later, after my family left the disgusting Marriot in Coconut Grove where they left the remaining vomit for days, I called Abbie back and yelled back at him to “Do his effin Job”  This was the perfect excuse for them to not finish the mold remediation.  My father had to beg them to finish the job.  I was told I was no longer allowed in my own home during the remediation.  They damaged my front door heavily, as I removed my key from the lock box on the front door.  (I NEVER thought they would get the job done, I was already looking for rentals I could afford, and almost got one.  They NEVER did finish the job properly, but enough was removed that my home was livable again. This took months.  Thank God my father BEGGED them to finish. These people have no soul, no heart.)

Dean-Mitchell also won’t use de-humidifiers unless you tell them to. You NEED a de-humidifier during mold remediation, otherwise all Dean-Mitchell does is close off air vents with plastic and tape which traps moisture in the room, with NO AIR circulation.  This breeds further mold.

There is no new management, and there is no apology.  Remember, the only thing they are experts at is manipulation.  They are very good at manipulation, that is all.

Let’s address this “New Director.” He didn’t even put his name here, so who is he and who was the old director?  They are the same person.  As I said, there is no new Director, no new management; only the same old EXPERT MANIPULATION.

Discoveries since my initial report:

1) They never removed all the walls in the master bathroom to date.  Every wall and every fixture needs to be removed to properly remediate the room.  The walls need to be sprayed with a bleach-like solution to kill any remaining mold.  They never removed all walls, and they left the entire vanity and toilet installed.

2) I found an ejected RAZOR blade in my 2 year-old son’s folded up HIGH-CHAIR.

3) They Violently CUT water pipes in master bath and kitchen.  Instead of properly detaching them, they violently cut them.

4) They removed dishwasher, but DID NOT DRAIN IT.  Hello?? Mold breeds in stagnant water.  I had to drain it myself, after spilling water all over the floor just trying to move it back in the kitchen.

5) They clearly used my baby’s diaper changing table as a cutting table, as long razor cuts are visible through the small mattress.

6) They ruined my NEW couch, by putting too many (why was anything placed on it?) items with sharp edges on it, such as a glass end table.  And they most likely used that surface for cutting as well.

7) They will remove only a small section of the mold and leave the rest as-is.  Then they will put the SAME mold infested tiles/materials back in place without cleaning it properly, or at all.  This will allow the mold to re-grow, and in 6 months, you will be calling them back again, especially if they have built trust with you, and you don’t know any better.  Thank God I knew better.  But they did fool me and manipulate me at first, but facts are facts, and their initial “remediation” still left our home unlivable, as the entire master bath was infested with black mold.  I could smell it, so I stayed on them until MOST of the walls were removed.  Thank God the check was with-held from them until then.

As the new Director of Business Development for Dean Mitchell, I am appalled to read this story. It is unfortunate to see that Dean Mitchell had operated like this in the past. No customer should ever have to go through a nightmare scenario like this, especially with their home and family.

During the past year, Dean Mitchell has completey revamped all of it's personnel from the top down. Qualified and certified team members from Upper Management, Project Management, to Technicians now compromise our Team.

As a company, we will take responsilbility for this failing of our past. As a new Team, we will strive to make a committment that these type of scenarios will never be repeated on our watch.

To the family that had to live through this, the Dean Mitchell Group would like to send our sincere apologies.

I have to say the hardest and worst part of this experience was staying in a fillthy disgusting hotel that the staff NEVER cleaned,(Residence Inn Marriott in Coconut Grove) nor did they throw away our garbage from the garbage can provided to us. We all had to go the hospital, and when we retuurned TWO days later, the remaining vomit was still on the floor (we cleaned up what we could) and they had not thrown out the garbage with paper towels full of my daugters vomit. It smelled like vomit and we all had to sleep there.  My daugter is 1 and my son is 2 years old. 

This is what you get when you hire "Dean Mitchell"
