BACKGROUND: This report requires a short background of the service and how it lead up to the point we are making a rip off report. We started service at an apartment building we had just purchased December 2004. We paid a full year for a discounted contract.

However, each and every month we received a bill and each subsequent month we received a bill. These bills ere invoices for service and we had to deal with them every single month. By the end of the 12 month contract the invoices reflected that we owed an amount of money that turned out to be money we did NOT owe at all, having been on a pre-paid annual contract.

I had to deal with these people and their collections calls every single month (when we paid the entire amount a year in advance) and at the end of the 12 months I requested they remove their dumpster and refused to pay the balance - because I had paid it already in an annual payment.

I called Missy (Our so-called rep) and complained of this and each time she said it was taken care of. In fact it was never taken care of at all. A bill always came.

Finally tired of Missy's false promises I called and spoke with Sandy in Accounts Receivable. She also said she would adjust the amount owed. Which she did. However the very next month we received a double bill and I was back on the phone with Sandy trying to sort it out.

This was March 10, 2006. I called and terminated services with Deffenbaugh verbally to Sandy, who then transferred me to Missy, at which time I reiterated my desire to terminate services with their company. It was taking up too much of my time. I had already secured a new trash removal company.

I requested a final bill and the dumpster removed from my property. The dumpster was not removed.

Two weeks later, Friday, March 24, 2006 I called and left several messages for Missy. Again, informing her that I wanted to terminate services and have the dumpster removed. My call was being screened and no return call was made by Missy or anyone else.

On Monday, March 27, 2006 I called and spoke with Sandy in billing again. At that time my billing was all messed up reflecting that I owed several months and I asked her to get the billing straight, which she did and asked her again to cancel my service. She assured me it would be taken care of.

However a week later I received a bill for March and April and called and spoke with Sandy again, at which time she assured me I didn't owe anything and she would take care of it.

Then in May I received a bill for March, April and May. I stopped calling and sent a certified letter detailing all of this and requested again to have the dumpster removed from my property. By this time I had pushed the dumpster off my property and had another service in place. They still did NOT remove the dumpster.

I asked my new provider to haul it away and he said he couldn't legally do that. He said that Deffenabugh does this all the time. Leaving dumpsters on properties and refusing to come get them and continue billing.

I have continued to get invoices through July for a dumpster that was not in use and not even located on my property. When I got the July bill I contacted my attorney. He instructed me to push the dumpster on city property and notify them and the city of it's illegal placement. Then and only then did they remove the dumpster from the vicinity of my property. However they keep sending a bill for these four months, one of which we didn't even own the building anymore (as we sold it).

I sent them another certified letter and a week later another bill arrived. If you're in the KC area or ANY area that Deffenbaugh serves, I'd shop around. Unless they are the only game in town - get the service somewhere else. They are a total RIP OFF and have caused me more extra work and expense than the discounted annual contract ever gave me.
