I purchased a Dell notebook computer in 2008. Included with this system was a trial offer for Dell DataSafe Online, an online backup/restore/sharing service. After the trial period ended, I activated the product and also upgraded to their BEST offering (100GB storage). I did this on 1 March 2010. I paid via credit card online and received an email congratulating me on my purchase. There was NO receipt other than the email and the website showing my purchase (date and time and price of upgrade). My PRIMARY reason for selecting Dell DataSafe Online, was their advertised (and highly touted) ability to access your files from ANY computer with an internet connection. This feature has NEVER worked for me and still does NOT work as of 18 April 2010. Despite MULTIPLE phonecalls, chats and emails with Dell Technical Support "experts" they were unable to fix the issue.

By multiple, I mean on the order of 25+ contacts. Each time, I have to provide a littany of my personal information and information about my notebook computer. Seriously, either Dell employs a bunch of brain-dead technical support people or they just don't keep track of what's going-on. To compound my frustration, on three separate occassions, I've been PROMISED a Dell Support Engineer would call me back and fix my issue. I get ZERO callbacks!!! So I call in again, and the nightmare begins anew. Sometimes they start right away. One one memorable call-in, I was transferred seven (7) times between various technical support centers. I mean, you've got to be kidding me right? After the latest promise of en engineer callback, I woke up today and thought it's time for this ridiculous charade to be over. I've wasted LITERALLY 40-50 hours of my life in a good faith attempt to work through Dell technical support. I called Dell today and asked for my money back and they had the GALL to tell me because I did not ask for a refund within 21 days, I was free to cancel my account with NO refund! Bottom-line: Dell has failed to deliver the promise of their Dell DataSafe Online service to me.
