Dennis Stevens, also known as Chad Stevens, was hired as an employee for our firm.  He was the detailing manager and handled subcontracting for our shop drawings.  We would let him know what the budget was and he had to find someone for that amount or less.  He began using his own company for all of our bigger projects and since he knew our price, he could get the most amount of money while still looking good to us.  He was discovered when many of the bigger jobs' drawings that came in were awful.  They could not be used and at the end, he ended up not sending us a lot of the drawings which left us in a very tight spot. 

This is not to mention that he was doing all of this work while on company time, so in essence he was getting paid twice for doing the drawings.  He also started showing up to work drunk.  Going forward, we will make sure to do a background check on all employees!  When we ran one on Chad in the end, we discovered that he had filed for bankruptcy, etc.
