The Jayhawk Elemtary PTO hired Mr. Regling to do a Magic of Science show.  We agreed on April 12th as the show date.  The contract states April 12.  We sent him a $200 deposit.  On the day of April 12, the students at Jayhawk Elementary were in the gym waiting for him to do the assembly and he never showed.  I made a phone call to Mr. Regling who stated he thought he was coming on Wednesday the 14th.  He wanted to know if he could still come on the 14th.  I told him no. It was too short of notice and that we had worked around state assessments as it was.  He said was very sorry and would refund our $200 (that would normally be non-refundable).  I told him I appreciated that and we hung up.  I never saw the refund.  I then contacted Call for Action. I faxed her all the documentation.  She emailed him several times.  He finally responded with the fact that it was his typo, but then lied about what was actually said and refused to refund any money.  I asked Call for Action to email him once more and see if he would refund at least half since it was obviously his typo error.  He did finally send us $100.

I guess we have to be satisfied with what we received, but this man put our ENTIRE school out as the students and staff were waiting on someone who was never going to show, THEN basically stole money from our Parent Teacher Organization - money that is raised by the students of our small (around 300 students) school!  It was very frusterating to all of us that he was so dishonest and unwilling to completley make this right!

I have documentation of what happened.  If this sight was more user friendly, I would remove the original report as it's basically water under the bridge.

School Violated Contract, Then Bullied Me in To Refund

AUTHOR: Great Assemblies - ()

POSTED: Sunday, September 08, 2013

Jayhawk School cancelled the performance with less than 48 hours notice, then demanded a refund of the nonrefundable deposit. I even offered to reschedule at no additional cost to the school. The school representative then posted this skewed report to bully me into a refund. I spoke with the person from the news they chose to arbitrate an amicable resolution.

Although I lost hundreds of dollars due to their cancellation, (I could have scheduled other schools with proper notice), I agreed to refund 1/2 the deposit if they would remove this report. They agreed to this arrangement, but then failed to keep their word and remove the post.

I have been performing educational shows for 14 years. I have presented programs in over 1500 schools in 28 states. Many schools have me back year after year. I can provide references if you are concerned.

The Jayhawk Elementary PTO hired Mr. Regling to do a Magic of Science show.  We agreed on April 12, 2010 as the show date.  The contract states April 12.  We sent him a $200 deposit in February.  On the day of Monday, April 12, the students were in the gym waiting for him to do the assembly and he never showed.  I made a phone call to Mr. Regling who stated he thought he was coming on Wednesday the 14th.  I told him no, the contract said the 12th. He wanted to know if he could come on the 14th.  I told him it was too short of notice and that we had booked him 2 months in advance in order to work around state assessments.  He said he was very sorry and would refund our $200 (that would normally be non-refundable).  I told him I appreciated it and we hung up.

He never sent the refund.  I placed several phone and emails to him that went unanswered.  I then contacted Call for Action.  I faxed them all the documentation.  She emailed him several times.  He emailed her that it was us who cancelled, but admitted it was his typo on the contract.  Why would we cancel if the kids were already in the gym waiting for him?

After one more email from Call for Action, he did finally agree to send us $100 (half the deposit).  We just want the rest of our deposit back.
