Under no circumstances elect to get your dentures from Dental Dreams. And though I'm writing about this particular office in Harrisburg, PA. All of the offices nationwide have the same policies since it is a corporation and all follow the same procedures. You could call Dental Dreams a dental mill.
I had my teeth extracted on July 17th, 2015 in preparation for the beginning of what would turn out to be a long and arduous ordeal of waiting and waiting, and waiting some more for the next procedure to take place. After a two week wait for the gums and bone to heal I made an appointment to have the molds made of the gums and bone to be sent to the dental lab....and here's where the rub really starts.
Dental Dreams does not use local dental labs. It is their corporate policy to have all of the work sent to a central lab they use in Chicago, Ill. because this is where their headquarters is. Because of this I get to wait two uneccesary weeks to get the molds back for the next procedure. This is two weeks of trying to figure out what I can gum down in an effort to eat. Let me tell you that your options are very limited when all you have are your gums, the roof of your mouth, and your tongue to try and get something in your stomach that might qualify as eating.
The paperwork you sign does indicate that there is some time between procedures and that you acknowledge this, and that the office is to call you as soon as the molds or whatever has been returned to the office, and that you'll be called immediately so that an appointment can be made. 3 weeksd go by before I call and was told, "Oh, yeah...they're here, but we can't get you in for another week!" Okay, high sodium soup and soft cookies here I come again.
So by now we're into August. In the meantime I had spoken to a couple of friends who have dentures and they're questioning my sanity for going with this dentist office since they had gotten their dentures in 3 days for one, and 2 weeks for the other. In the meantime of that meantime I had spoken to several other people who also had had their dentures done inside of a week. By now I'm upset for more reasons than before.
I finally got in to do the next procedure and was once again told it would be at least two weeks before those molds would be returned. I didn't feel like complaining then because that little dental assistant has nothing to do with corporate policy. By now we're into September and I'm really starting to struggle with having no teeth. It really does turn your life upside down when you have to make big adjustments like this to what should be something very simple.
Needless to say I'm back this month of October, and this time I had to sign another paper saying once again that I understood that there would be a waiting time before the next procedure. However this time I asked if I was going to be able to eat Thanksgiving dinner, and that I was going to be pretty pissed if that wasn't going to happen because by tradition in my household I'm the one who makes the Thanksgiving dinner, and my wife does the Christmas dinner.
I was told straight up that not only would I not make Thanksgiving dinner, but I would probably not make Christmas dinner as well. So at Christmas time we're at 6 months without dentures and the new year follows shortly afterwards. Needless to say I went through the roof! And I truly realize that I have made a huge mistake by going to Dental Dreams! Yes many might say that in the end it's my fault....but who takes 6 months to finally get dentures made? Dental Dreams, that's who!
At this point I have no choice because it's too late to go anywhere else. But I can warn others about this and hope that they, whomever they may be, will steer clear of Dental Dreams and go somewhere that uses local dental labs so that unlike me, you won't be without teeth for 6 months or longer. Of course calling their corporate offices has done absolutely no good because no one returns phone calls and when you leave messages you have no idea if they're getting to anyone.
While researching this company further I've found numerous complaints for a wide variety of reasons. Plus lawsuits and the death of two young people, one of whom was a young boy that just went to have a filling replaced and was treated to a root canal instead and shortly thereafter died of sepsis. Doesn't make one feel too good about the stupid decisions one has made.
