Denver Certified Coins, aka, Valley Forge Coin, seems to be a company that largely uses the internet for sales of "original wrapped coins".  On September 10, 2014 I won an auction for a roll of Morgan silver dollars; "Up for auction is an old bank wrapped roll from “Bullion & Exchange Bank" of Carson City. This roll has never been opened and is machine crimped on both ends."  They stated the roll would not have coins dated after 1896.   I was uncomfortable with the purchase, since it was expensive and took nearly all my money I had saved.  Therefore, I explained this to Dave of Denver certified coins and I requested that if the roll of coins I received had essentially common dates, I would have the paper that it was wrapped in analyzed and if the paper turned out to be inconsistant with the dates I would expect them to return my monies.  The response to this proposal from Dave was, "Yes I completely understand where you are coming from and were(sp) are quite confident in these and have no problem agreeing to those terms. I will leave our payment information below. I really appreciate your openness and concern and I hope the information provided has helped alleviate those concerns."

Dave then offered if I sent a check he would reduce the amount due by $500 and being the novice I was, I agreed, thus negating the ebay/paypal guarentee.  This company is smooth.  Beware.

Unfortunately, I did recieve rather common dates and had the paper analyzed professionally for $400.  The results from Integrated Paper Services dated 10/16/14 were, "Some of the fiber types present were not available in the 1890's and were not used until much later in the 20th century.  Therefore, this paper coin wrapper could not have been from the 1890's." 

When I relayed this information, Dave only argued that the test meant nothing to them and how could they know if I actually sent the correct paper, etc (communications are available).  Ultimately, they refused to return my money.  I still have the coins in the original wrapper and offered to send it to any bonified company they wanted but they refused.

I do not know if they have a cottage industry were they have an organized plan to defraud consumers or not.  What I do know is that they do not keep their word and they defrauded me; they lie and say anything to close a deal.  They defrauded me and I warn people to be aware of their dishonesty.  I paid $5100 for a roll of "unwrapped morgan dollars" worth $1700.  I was definately taught an expensive lession and I should have went with my gut instincts and not closed this deal, but I trusted Dave, he seemed so nice on the phone.

I attempted to garner Ebay's assistance in this but they refused and they even removed the emails outlining the above.  You can no longer communicate with Ebay via mail and their operators simply give you the company line  I was not even allowed to give a review of the company because I had taken to long; it took several weeks to have the paper analyzed.  I do have the paper records in case the above company would like to dispute the above.

Again, this company is smooooth!!!!
