My state income tax refund was taken to pay someones child support. This is an error of entry or someone has stolen my social security card because I have been married 19 years and have 4 children with my husband and have raised them all.
I was advised in March that the error was found and would be corrected and we would receive our refund in 4-6 weeks and now 8 weeks later I received a letter stating the payment of $344.00 was paid to Wayne County Friend of the court for debt owed.
I have spent a total of 5 hours on the telephone trying to resolve this and I have not been able to get any help. The last person I spoke with in Wayne County Friend of the Court telephone center a Camiel said I had to fax a copy of my drivers license & SS card to them with a letter to request a correction.
I need help from someone. This is so wrong. If a company makes a mistake they should apologize and try to help as much as possible to get the error corrected.

You were told correctly, you should submit your photo ID and SSN card so they can identify you as the wrong person. Fax your information and they will forward directly to the proper department. It usually takes about 90 days for your refund to reach the FOC. Get your information in as soon as possible, so they can do what they need to do, so when your refund is received, it can basically just be turned right around and be returned to you.. YOu may also want to call after 90 days just to make sure the $ was received and they are working on getting it back to you.
