I have made a report to the Department of Professional Licensing in utah (DOPL) about a physician performing a vaginal procedure on me without gaining my consent. The law in utah states that DOPL is able to fine physicians for violating the AMA's code of ethics, and failing to get informed consent for a procedure is a violation of the AMA's code of ethics. I reported the physician and the department told me that the results of the investigation are private. I was offended that I was not allowed to know the result of the investigation so I emailed the department. The woman who was in charge of the investigation claimed that it was thorough and complete, even though she had gotten basic details about the investigation wrong. I asked repeatedly if there was a way to fix the report and she told me it would remain closed. I have no received any sort of answer about why the law says one thing, and the DOPL employees say another. I have had the same sort of experience when I recently tried to report a LCSW for professional misconduct by perjuring herself in court. They are worse than useless, they embolden and allow for patient abuses by failing to fine medical professionals who mistreat their patients.

How did you not know that a procedure was being done on you without your consent?? Someone has to sign papers to GIVE consent. How do you know about the code of ethics?? Have you ever read this code?? Was this emergency surgery?
I have a had time believing this report because number 1 - your report makes no sense and 2 - your run on paragraph makes it harder to comprehend. IF you want to report a physician you should have contacted the State where he is licensed. The AMA is not your private investigation services - don't like it? Hire and Attorney. Get a copy of your medical records (you will have to pay for it).

I find it rather difficult to put ANY credibility to your statement about this doctor. How exactly did he do "work" on YOUR private area WITHOUT you knowing about it. Second, if you were passed out or unconsious and he performed a medical proceedure, then it would have been nesasary. If your passed out how exactly would he be able to get concent?
First let me be the first to tell you this. YOU ARE NOT THE WORLDS LAWENFORCMENT!!! Just because YOU had a complaint doesnt mean that they have to give you ANYTHING. No reports, no information, as it is NONE of your business. That would be between that doctor and his adminitrative HR. Second, it appears you feel that the people you deal with MUST be infailable. I hate to break it to you, but they are ALL just human. Remind us when it was that you obtained ABSOLUTE perfection??
Seems to me that youre the type of consumer that holds others to higher standards then you hold yourself. Given that you run into issues with reporting, did you ever think that your reports are just false and have ZERO basis? No probably not. Youre perfect.
Perhaps YOU need to examine YOUR problems before you start calling other ppl out on THEIR mistakes.
