I have even contacted Senator Mcain's office and they couldn't do anymore than what I have done.Hal was a former Navy Seal in Vietnam and because he was a Seal is records are in the Pentagon and they are confidential (to me) and the file, I have been told will not be opened for 10 years after his death. My husband and myself adopted our grandsons, twin boys age 9 now, when they were babies and we have been raising them since. Hal told me that I should receive his full disability which is approxatmently $3,600.00 a month and if not at least a portion of that and it would help to bring up the boys comfortably and in the custom they are use to.I am now trying to be patient but I am getting very inpatient with the VA because they keep telling me that first he was not in Vietnam which I know he was,and that he was not subject to Agent Orange, which I also know is wrong because one of the doctors at the VA told us he was and Hal knew he was to because he use to sit on the Agent Orange barrels. I then went to the American Legion and asked them for help and they seemed to help me but the VA is giving them a hard time too. I just got a letter from the VA and they are no longer denying the fast that Hal was in Vietnam but they said that I reiceive too much money and that I am $500.00 above the poverty level. I took the letter to the American Legion Representative and he looked up the poverty level and I am below the poverty level that he has on records. So now I am waiting for a phone call from the VA so that I can, I guess, tell my story to them and if they don't believe that my story is not enough for them they will deny me and then I have to go in front of a board to tell my story. So in the mean time I have tried to refinance my car and my home and I am unable to do so because my credit score is not high enough. I just do not know which way to turn anymore. Is there anything you can do to help me out?
