I had this guy call and leave a message telling me he was from the checks department and that I had a payday loan through cashnet.com and that I owed them 800.00 dollars and if I didnt have it by 4pm that they were going to call the law and have them come get me for theft of services. So I call the people and they are giving me really old info. about me that I hadnt used in 13yrs,old address,old phone#'s,etc. I thought that is weird because the loan company that I had my loan through ha all current info. and how would they get all this old info on me. So I had my husband get the money for me and when he got home from work he started telling me about this scam that his boss had also ran into.I called the local DA's office and they said that there wasnt such a thing and that not to give out any info.So I got on the internet and tried to reverse the #'s they had given me 8668412555 and 8772618333 and nothing could be found so I blew the whole thing off until this morning the guy calls again and leaves another message so then I came and searched google for the # and found that someone else had been contacted too by the same people. What is going on with this world trying to scam us poor folks, like we dont have enough to deal with everyday in this world.

this is a long known scam - go to the ABCNEWS website and search on fake debt collectors. THEY USE SCARE TACTICS TO GET YOU TO PAY what you do not owe.
These scammers hope you do not KNOW YOUR RIGHTS - yes YOU have rights when dealing with LEGITIMATE debt collectors.
these fools ARE NOT LEGITIMATE and cannot do a d**n thing.
if they call back tell you have reported them to the authorites and you know its a scam..
