I ordered a magazine on 10/23/09, from a friendly door-to-door salesman who called himself Stacy Palmer. He told me that he was trying to earn money for college. He also stated that he was recently released from jail and was trying to make a better life for himself. He gave me a sob story about how his mother died and didn't really have a family.

"Stacy" asked my husband and I many questions pertaining to our professions and our personal interests. Luckily, we didn't let him in our home and made him stand outside when he was giving us his sales pitch. We ordered the cheapest magazine on the list so he would just leave and we could get on with our evening. The materials he showed us looked professional, and the catalog of magazines we had to choose from were laminated. He also showed me a list of names and addresses of my neighbors who purchased magazines from him.

It has now been seven months, and I have yet to receive my magazine. I just happened to be thinking about it today, so I pulled out my receipt and called the phone number on it. There is an answering machine message, which sounds completely unprofessional, by a woman stating that their phone service has been disrupted long time, and that "we sincerely, sincerely apologize for this." I then tried e-mailing Destiny Sales using the e-mail address both in the phone message and on the receipt. I received a response stating that the e-mail address doesn't exist. I googled the name of the company and discovered that many other people have had the same experience.

I guess I consider myself lucky that I'm only out $34 dollars; some people I read about gave the salesperson much more than that. I'm sending this message as a warning to others who may run into a Destiny Sales associate in the future.
