I was invited to a party for DeTech and almost got caught up their scam, but was lucky enough, after reading their contract, to cancel within the three days. They used scare tactics, ie: stories about children burning to death because the parents did not go out to a DeTech meeting but went to dinner instead.
Also, they say they have been endorsed by a Palm Coast fire official, claiming that after seeing their product, he would never again give out a free smoke detector because they don't meet DeTech's specifications. I have talked to people who know this fire official personally and he said that he never endored this company.
This is a pyramid scheme whereas they charge you $2,700 to install the smoke detectors in your house but, if you have other people you can invite to a party, they will give you approximately $50.00 per couple toward the $2,700. They give you a $40.00 free gas card just for attending a party but you must send the gas card to the company for validation. However, when you get it back you find out the rules which say you can only use $10.00 a month.
I received a flyer in my mailbox last week inviting me to a DeTech party. I called the host and informed her of my findings and she said she was too far into it to back out now because she had already had DeTech install the units in her house and now had to pay for them.
The opinions placed above are mine through my own observations and experiences.

Not a pyramid- or a scam

I have to laugh when I read some of these things. For starters, I recently attended a home party that my neighbor hosted with the local Detech rep. The information provided was eye-opening, yet there was zero scare tactic- just facts, a well done video presentation, and demonstration of the coolest fire protection equipment I have ever seen. He gave out gift cards to Speedway to all that attended- nothing to mail in. He politely offered additional information to those who asked- and did not get pushy. I thought the information he gave was worthwhile, and my neighbors are thrilled with what they bought. I have done considerable research on smoke detectors and heat detectors online- First alert, Kidde, Masterguard, ADT- you name it i ve at least read about it. The stuff Detech has is way beyond the aformentioned companies. You can make your own financial decisions- I believe this product has considerable value. I am scheduling the sales rep to visit my home. Oh, and this is NOT a pyramid- Detech has independent dealers all over- you can go to their web site and read all about their company and products. I'm guessing that this letter is from a former employee who had issues or a competitor who is trying to flame this company! -There's several of "those" on this topic .
