I responded to an ad in Craigslist for 2009 Dallas Cowboy Season tickets (http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/tix/1294930945.html ) on July 30.

After a few emails back and forth with the seller (Diana Schrotter - diana.scrhotter@gmail.com) I decided to go ahead and purchase the tickets. The offer was $750 for two season tickets section 413 row 1. The seller offered to go thru eBay so the transaction would be secure.

I received an email on July 30 which appeared to be a legitimate invoice from eBay (contained registered logo, etc). The email instructed me to use MoneyGram to send the money and an eBay representative would verify the money. The representative would then contact the seller and hold the money until I received the tickets and confirmed everything was correct. The money would then be delivered to the seller or returned if the item was not correct.

I sent the money on August 1 and sent an email to the eBay rep. I had not heard anything back as of August 4 so I emailed the seller. She had the eBay rep contact me to retrieve the MoneyGram information. Both indicated as soon as the money was verified they would send the tickets.

This was the last I heard from either one. I sent a follow up email to the eBay rep on Aug 5 and Aug 6. I called MoneyGram on Aug 6 and they informed me the money had been delivered on Aug 6. I sent another follow up email to the seller on Aug 7 and an email to both the seller and rep on Aug 10. I have not heard anything back from either the seller or rep nor have I receved the tickets. Upon further research, it appears this is a scam and I am now out $750.00.

  Particularly point #2 :

NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.

This is a scam honey, a very old scam.  Ebay does NOT have anything to do with craigs list.  When you buy through ebay you must have an ebay ID and pay through paypal.  You bid or "buy it now" but there is never a "let's go through ebay" and you only pay through paypal.

I feel bad for you but at the same time, I know that no one can take advantage of you unless you let them.  If you fell for this, you deserved to be scammed.
