Received unsolicited letter from Dimensional Construction, LLC signed by Brian Wendorf. Company advised due to a hail storm in your area, it was very possible that you have hail damage to your roof and then recited our home address. Further advised company specializes in recognizing hail damage and working with your insurance agent to replace your roof. After more marketing words, "It is very important that you act quickly. Your neighbors have begun to file claims and we are starting to get roofs replaced." Company enclosed a map of the so called hail swath for review.

The nature of the communication gave rise to concern. Did some research and found this related News 8 investigation report. Reproduced below.

Roofer arrested in NBRC fraud case still in business with a different company

Cathy Summers didn't blink when she signed a deal a few months ago to replace the storm-damaged roof of her home in Lutz through an insurance claim arranged by Dimensional Construction LLC, a company that operates out of Palmetto.

Then she learned about the Eight On Your Side investigation of NBRC Construction LLC, a company that operated a similar business scheme until the arrest of eight of its associates two weeks ago.

Summers called Eight On Your Side to find out of there was a connection and indeed there is.

One of the alleged fraudsters with NBRC--Eric Shane Johnson--founded Dimensional Construction LLC in March, signed over the company's ownership to a man named Allen Libby a month later, and continues to work out of the same offices as a roofing subcontractor for the Libby.

Monday, office supplies ordered by DMS Construction, another company owned by Johnson, sat in the lobby of Dimensional Construction.

"Why would I want to do business with that type of person," Summers told Eight On Your Side."I don't want to be a part of that."

But getting out of her contract with Dimensional wasn't so easy.

Summers insists that a staff worker named Danen Renee told her repeatedly that she'd have to pay a 20% penalty if she broke the contract with Dimensional for a new roof.

That's when Summers reached out to Eight On Your Side for help.

A staff member hung up the phone on us when we called Dimensional Construction from Summers' home, so we paid a visit to the company offices in Palmetto to ask questions.

That didn't work out much better when a Dimensional Construction office worker told us to wait outside while she contacted a manager and never came back. We called repeatedly from outside the offices but no one would answer the phone.

It all seemed a bit hopeless until Renee, the same Dimensional Construction staffer who threatened Summers with a financial penalty, sent Summers an email Tuesday afternoon that said she could cancel the roofing job without paying anything whatsoever.

Just like that, problem solved.

Johnson won't be working on Summers' house but he is still free to work on anyone else's.

Despite the pending felony charge of organized fraud Johnson now faces and four administrative complaints with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation for failing to install roofs when he was part owner of NBRC, Johnson's state license is current and active.

Summers worries how other consumers who signed deals with Dimensional may be impacted by Johnson's containing involvement, but is relieved that she caught wind of the NBRC story and called Eight On Your Side.

"I'm glad all of this came out," said Summers. "Because it's a protection for me."
