Ripoff Fraudulent Business, When I received my Newport News charge account bill over the weekend it had a charge for $48.79 for a Directone long distqnce Co. I never talked to anyone from that co.or knew of them at all. I immediately called FCNB bank that handles Newport News charge account. They told me I had to get a hold of this company to get the charge removed. I then did research on this co. and found Ripoff Report and was amazed on what this compnay does. I also turned this info. over to a class action attorney's office to see if they would handle this case and the many others who have been hurt by Directone.
They have already responded and are getting back to me shortly. My opinion is do this to them and hurt them in the pocketbook like they have hurt you and me. If they are truly interested in this matter, I will let Ripoff know so they can pass this along to the many others. I did call the co. and I could hear other operators answering irate phone calls too about the same thing. I gave them TWO DAYS" to credit back my account or what I threatened them with was the Attorney General's Office in MA. where I live. As I said previously, I want to pursue this legally and I belive this is the only way to stop them even though our atty. gen. is very good in this state about these matters.
Let me know what you think about this and I will keep checking back. Irate about identy stolen which this is too besides the many things they are guilty of.

Gave Directone long distance a limited time to credit my Newport News charge account and of course they did not follow through. I have contacted one well know class action firm so far and am waiting for a response. If that firm does not take this I will continue contacting one until one does go after them legally. since they are "Slamming" I believe this is a Federal Trade Charge also. I will be calling the Attorney General's office this week and will report about what they suggest to all who have been affected by this. As far as calling the credit bureaus about this : you cannot get a phone no. to talk to a human being about this. You have to order a report by mail and wait for that to get a number on the bottom of the report to be able to talk to a person about this type of a situation. Costing us again more money. I still feel the only way to stop this is legally. We must all chek our bills every time they come in. I will let everyone know my results from all of the above. by the way I live in MA. not CA. Hang in there. Jacquelyn in MA.

Dear Ripoff report and those who have been ripoffed by this company. I have recently found out that Simply Wireless is also a division of this company. I believe that is how they got my info. to charge my Newport News account. I received a phone call today marketing a Nokia cellphone and just by chance asked the person whether they were a part of Directone Lon Distnace. She told me "that they were part of there company and does marketing for them also. I immediately told her goodbye. Yesterday I did gat a hold of Directone Long Distance after trying the number that was on my account several times. At first the number did not even ring. My guess is they do not turn them on all the time. A woman did answerand I told her very forcefully that my account better be credited in two days or else I was not waiting one day longer or I was reporting them to the Attorney General's office in MA. I told her that this state does go after people-companies like this very agressively. I told her I wanted a mnager to call me back when she told me they were all out to lunch. Of course, the phone call was never returned by anyone from there company. I also suspect that my account will never get credited back and especially in the time that I gave them.
