I signed up for Direct TV through Direct Path in Alabama in November of last year. I only stayed in the apartment for 2 weeks and cancelled my Direct TV on November 16th.

In December I received a past due notice for over $250. I contacted the company and explained that I had cancelled the service. They said that no cancellation was recorded. They also claim that the infamous "box" was not returned. I explained that the person I spoke to said that the man was on site every day at this very large complex and would pick it up at the office. I instructed the talking headset that I was speaking to to record the cancellation.

In January I received a bill for over $300. I spoke to another headset who said that my call in December was on record but that the service was not cancelled. I asked if my comments about leaving the apartment in November were there...."YES". I asked her what IQ would be necessary to realize that the service could not then continue.....she claimed to have updated the file but the "box" still was not recovered. I agreed to pay the $200 for the box and asked for a statement.

In March I received a bill for over $450. This talking headset said that both the previous calls were recorded but the cancellation was not...indeed the question I asked in january about how someone could continue service when they had recorded that I left in November....I agreed to pay the $200 over the phone but wanted verification that this was PAYMENT IN FULL. She said she was typing it in as we spoke...

She transferred me to another talking headset who said: "Yes, we have record of your just now paying the $200 but nothing about it being PAID IN FULL and when would I be sending the balance.

I obtained the home office address in Colorado and wrote them a letter about the story of my lifetime agreement with Direct TV and the liklihood that my decedents would be paying for the next 100 years...I also filed a Federal Trade Commission report.

In April I received a collection agency notice...not for $250...but FOR $450.

People who paid protection money in the 20's 30's and 40's paid it to "Vito" or "Benny the Neck".....in the 2000's it is Direct TV..

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!
