If you buy the Asurion Insurance, beware it is usless.  My Netgear Nighthawk router was worth $250.00-300.00 they sent me $65.00 The insrance says will repair or replace with like model. Their idea of a like model is to take according to them the average price of a router $65.00. Told to me take it to abritration (a very long and useless process)  Also TV's got hit by lightening. One tv got the back blown out at the aerial connection - Asurion would not cover--- It was considered physical damage and they do not cover physical damage even it is due to lightening strike.  Front TV took almost a month to repair and on the web site they site the family has a hard time doing without tv for 3 days. they took almost 30.  Also beware if your tv is smaller than 40" you have to send it to them (not stated) also if it attached to a wall bracket they will not do it because they only send out one repair person. Your TV has to be bigger than 43" AND be on a table top stand for them to come to your house to repair. Beware if you large TV it on a wall bracket. The company is full of loop holes and unpublished rules. (try to find the free standing bracket in the small print.) Stay away from this insurance. Just get home owners it is fast and will pay. This is a rip off company praying on people.k Plus there is a $50.00 charge to use the insurance. So when I got $65.00 back from them they really only paid me $15.00!!!!

Useless

I find that anything like this is useless for anyone to have. I had a customer who got surge protectors from the local Electric Company. They also got struck by lightning and the electric company told them. That since the surge protector were ok they couldn't do anything for them.

The best you can do is the whole house surge protectors for your breaker box. Then get individual protector at each oulet you want protect. If you get struck by lightning hope for the best.

Because no matter what grounding, protectors or insurance doesn't guarantees 100 % protection.

Panamax surge protectors are one of the best they have high/low voltage cutoff and clamping voltage if 200 vac pk2pk ( 140vac rms).

If one surge protector is rated at 300 vac pk2pk, panamax is rated at 200 vac pk2pk and line voltage is 174 vac pk2pk. I have had 3 on my work bench for 20 years and building next door took a direct hit and didn't damage anything I have.

I know of a couple customers who the electric company sent the wrong voltage to their house. In both cases the surge portectors blew up , but saved the equipment. Well you dor the math.
