I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN SAID ABOUT DRIVE TIME AS A COMPANY. THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS THAT THEY DONT TELL YOU AND AT TIMES DONT SEEM TO BE STATED IN THE CONTRACT BEFORE THEY HAVE YOU GO THROUGH WITH THE DEAL.

WHEN I FIRST WENT TO DRIVE TIME I WAS DOING A PROCESS WHERE I WOULD PUT THE MONEY DOWN FOR THE DOWN PAYMENT, SORT OF A LAYAWAY PLAN. I TOLD THEM THE EXACT CAR THAT I WANTED AND THE DATE THAT I WOULD BE COMING TO PICK IT UP. AND ON DECEMBER 16 2006 THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I DID I CAME TO PICK UP THE CAR I REQUESTED BUT THEY UNFORTUNATELY DID NOT HAVE THE TITLE FOR THAT CAR. MIND YOU THEY NEW ABOUT A MONTH OR TWO IN ADVANCE WHEN I WAS COMING TO PICK UP THE CAR.

THEN THE CAR THEY TRIED TO SELL ME DID NOT HAVE SOME OF THE FEATURES THAT I REQUESTED AND THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY DIDNT KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD GET THE TITLE FOR MY ORIGINAL CAR. SO I ENDED UP HAVING TO TAKE ANOTHER CAR I NEVER ASKED FOR.

A FEW MONTHS LATER THE BRAKES STARTED GOING BAD AND WITHIN A YEAR THE TRANSMISSION BLEW, AND I HAD TO PAY $2300 TO GET THAT FIXED. THEY THEN STATED THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO DO A DEFERMENT BUT I HAD NO IDEA I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH THAT MUCH RED TAPE. ONE PERSON TOLD ME I COULD GET THE PAYMENTS DEFERRED FOR THE AMOUNT OF THE COST OF THE TRANSMISSION ($2300). BUT THEN WHEN IT CAME TIME TO DO THE ACTUAL DEFERRMENT SOMEONE FLIPPED IT ON ME AND TOLD ME THAT, THAT WASNT THE CASE AND THEY ONLY DEFERRED 2 PAYMENTS TOTALLING IN $360.

IN THE MEAN TIME WHILE ALL THIS WAS GOING OVER THE COURSE OF ABOUT A WEEK THEY KEPT TACKING ON INTEREST AFTER INTEREST AT SUCH A HIGH INTEREST RATE EACH DAY. JUST RECENTLY I HAD GOTTEN INTO A CAR ACCIDENT AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD DO ANOTHER DEFERRMENT. SO I TOLD THEM THAT THE GUY HASNT GOTTEN HIS CAR FIXED WHO I HIT BUT I PAID HIM THE $1100 THAT I OWED HIM AND THE VICTIM ALSO GAVE ME THE ESTIMATE WHICH SHOWED THAT HIS CAR WOULD COST APPROX $1100 TO FIX. I ALSO GAVE THEM A COPY OF THE WESTERN UNION MONEY ORDERS TOTALLING IN $1100. I FAXED THAT INFO OVER TO DRIVE TIME AND THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH THAT THEY NEEDED A RECEIPT. I INFORMED THEM THAT I CANNOT MAKE THE PERSON FIX HIS CAR. KEEP IN MIND THE VICTIM IN THAT CAR ACCIDENT WAS MY NEIGHBOR DOWN THE STREET SO I COULD WALK PAST HIS CAR AND SEE THAT I WASNT FIXED YET.

SO IN THE MEAN TIME OF ME AND DRIVE TIME GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THE DEFERRMENT THEY HAVE BEEN TACKING INTEREST ON OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I SENT THEM THE $25 THAT IT COSTS TO DO THE DEFERRMENT AND A PAYMENT ALSO WITH A LETTER TELLING THEM MY FAX NUMBER SO THEY COULD FAX ME THE DEFERRMENT PAPERWORK. BUT I NEVER RECEIVED THE PAPERWORK. BUT THEY'VE KEPT USING THE EXCUSE THAT THEY COULDNT GET A HOLD OF ME OR THAT WHAT I GAVE FOR PROOF OF THE $1100 WASNT GOOD ENOUGH. THEY STATED THEN THAT HE WOULD CHECK TO SEE IF HE CAN DO THE DEFERRMENT WHEN I WAS ORIGINALLY TOLD WAY BACK WHEN THEY FIRST DECIDED TO DO THE DEFERRMENT THAT I WAS APPROVED. WITH ALL THIS TIME THEY COULD HAVE SENT ME THAT PAPERWORK A LONG TIME AGO, BUT INSTEAD HE DECIDED TO KEEP TACKING ON INTEREST JUST OVER 2 PAYMENTS THAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DEFER, THEY TACKED ON INTEREST FOR 39 DAYS AT 21% A DAY!!

SO IM GETTING BLAMED FOR THEM NOT FOLLOWING AND RECEIVING MORE INTEREST WHEN I FOLLOWED ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE DEFERMENT PROCESS BUT IT SEEMS THEY'RE ONLY INTERESTED IN TRYING TO FIND WAYS TO GET MORE MONEY OUT OF ME. IM STARTING TO SEE A LOT OF ISSUES FROM THIS COMPANY AND IM ALSO SEEING THE ISSUE THAT A LOT OF OTHER POEPLE ARE HAVING. ANYONE INTERESTED IN CONTACTING ME TO HANDLE THIS THROUGH THE BBB OR THROUGH A LAWSUIT FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME.

MYKE My name is Stick. I have read your report

AUTHOR: Consumer Advocate - Auto Industry - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 04, 2008

MYKE My name is Stick. I have read your report. After reading it I have to ask you a few questions. Being a car buyer's Advocate I try to keep on top of many car buying issues to better help car buyers. I not here to bash your report. I am here to get a better understanding as to what went down and what did you bring to the dealer to give them to work with.

You said that there is so many things that they don't tell car buyers and at times some things don't seem to be stated or explained in the car buying contacts before they have you sign the contract. My first question is Myke did you ask them for time to sit aside and read the contract and all the documentation before you agreed to sign all necessary documents to buy the used car? Many car buyers are so excited about buying a new or used car that they are unwilling to spend the time to read what they are signing. Sometimes because they do not want the dealer to find out that they do not understand what it is that they are reading. In other words, It's way over their head!

You said that you were doing a layaway program where you would put the money down for a down payment, you say sort of a layaway plan. was this a signed agreement or something you came up with? Do you have any documents that reflect "your" layaway plan? I am willing to bet that you don't. You said that you told them the exact car you wanted and the date that you would be back to buy it. Did you ask them to draw up legal doc's that reflect your desire to buy what car you wanted?

As far as the car's title, we all know that sometimes people that trade cars in tend to neglect bring in the title of the car they traded in. Sometimes car buyers will see a car that a dealer has taken in on trade but it's not ready to sell because some doc's are not complete so the car can't be sold.

You said that they car they tried to sell you did not have the features that you wanted, Keep in mind you were not at a new car dealership. They can't order a used car the way a car buyer wants it. You said that they did not have a car equipped the way you wanted so you HAD TO buy a car that you never asked for. NO law has ever been passed that states that you had to buy a car from them much less one that you did not want.

You said that a few months later that the breaks started going bad and later you had to spend $2300 for a transmission. Did you elect to NOT buy some kind of warranty for that used car? By the way most warranties do not cover parts that are designed to wear out, like break shoes and pads.

You have to keep in mind that #1 you went to a dealer that sells used cars. #2 You mention nothing as to if you did or did not buy any kind of warranty to protect you from the unexpected. #3 You did not mention if your credit needs a "Check-UP from the NECK-UP" Many car dealers that sell used cars to car buyers that have some serious speed bumps in their credit history put big money on the line and only have hope and dreams that they car buyers that have credit that needs a "Check-UP from the NECK-UP" will make all the payments and on time! HOPE and nothing more! Car buyers with poor credit reports are a very high risk and you know this, Don't dummy-up on me!

Do you have good credit? You mentioned that you are paying a high interest rate. Many car buyers that do not like to talk about their credit know that their credit sucks canal water. Now days lenders are starting to look the other way when it comes to doing business with customers that have sub prime credit. Do you have any idea how much money this dealer has in cars that people are out there abusing and not willing to invest some money to take care of their cars? I would never ask your dealer to show you their books, But I am willing to bet that they have a big investment out there.

Post a update and talk to us all about your credit history. Like what's your 3 credit scores, Do you know what they are and are you willing to post them? What does it say on your credit report about your revolving available? Do you know what the percent is? I bet not. Do you have any delinquent lines of credit? Do you know what I am talking about?

When a car buyer has big speed bumps in their credit history they should not be making all kinds of lists of what they want. They should be showing some appreciation as to what they can get and be happy that they are not on a city bus.

Most of the time the people with sub prime credit are the ones that cry the loudest. If you have poor credit, learn how the credit industry works and maybe next time you can buy what you want and not what you feel somebody forced you to buy!

My credit score was 803 the last time I had a report pulled and my revolving available was 95%. Nor do I have any delinquent lines of credit! If you don't feel that you can make the payments on time, look at a cheaper car. Far to many times people that can only afford a plastic lawn chair are wanting to buy the Lay-Z-Boy!
