I made the unfortunate mistake of going through a small buy here; pay here dealership only because I wa the victim of ID theft and my credit was trashed as a result of it.

I needed a newer car for use with Uber & Lyft so I sold my 2003 Expedition and bought a 2008 Pontiac G6 from Discount Auto Sales here in Las Vegas next to McCarran Airport and that was a mistake.

Turns out the vehicle was not safe for the road and was involved in an undisclosed accident which resulted in; what GM referred to as 'substantial frame damage' when I took it to them for some recall work Discount failed to have done.  More on the recalls later.

When I picked up the vehicle; on financing, the same day I had to do a brake job and was unable to smog check it due to bad Intake & Exhaust Cam Position Sensors for which they sent me to their mechanic to replace the following day.  While I was there I had them address an issue with a faulty passenger side headlight; the pig tail was burned out, however the guy "fixed" the driver side headlight and there was nothing wrong with it.

When I walked out to my car after the repair I checked the lights and the passenger side was still out; I asked and he said he though it was the driver side light that was out.  He never checked to see which one he was fixing.  I was told he was out of pig tails and would order more with the sensors to repair the correct light.

When he said he was finished and I would need to come back for the sensors as they ordered the wrong parts and now had to find them and reorder them online.  Also they had to replace the windshield wiper switch as the wipers and sprayer was not working.

30 days past and my temp plate was expiring and I still had not heard back from the mechanic to complete the repairs and when I went back to the dealership he told them he was not able to get into contact with me and I never returned any of his voicemails.  When I pointed out I never received any voicemails or calls he claimed he must have wrote down the wrong number; there’s a catch he never wrote it down he saved it into his cell phone.  But they did clear out the fault codes and sent me for smog check before the system could repost them to sneak the car past the state smog check

I now have no headlights save for my high beams and driving with them on full time; not being able to dim near other vehicles, is a violation of the law and left me open to moving violations.

When I took the car into GM to address the 3 open recalls; headlights, tail lights & Electronic Assist Power Steering Module, I learned the car had been in a serious accident in which it sustained substantial frame damage; none of which was disclosed at the time of the sale.

GM replaced the wiring harness for the taillights and the Module but refused to replace the faulty headlight wiring harness due to the negligent repair attempt by Discounts Mechanic in which he utilized wire nuts to reconnect the pigtail he replaced.

You can not legally use wire nuts on automotive connections as they back off and work themselves loose due to road vibrations allowing moisture into the wiring, causes over heating and can lead to electrical fires.  As the result of this negligent repair GM refused to honor that recall; replacing the wiring harness is costly.

While at GM I was also advised that the Tork sensor inside the steering column was bad which was causing the steering wheel to vibrate and move on it’s own and also caused the repeated power steering failures I had experienced which lead to a few close calls.  This is a very expensive repair, as they need to remove the steering column and replace part of it.

I was also advised that the Axle CV joints are failing and require replacement; an extremely expensive repair cost.

I was experiencing intermittent check engine lights and had it checked to find out the fuel system was failing which is another costly repair.

I live and work in Las Vegas where it gets rather warm and AC is a must.  Now that it is warming up when the temp hits 75 or above the AC fails; yet another costly repair.

There is an exhaust leak allowing exhaust into the passenger compartment that is getting worse and has left me physically ill many times.  I placed a C°2 detector in the car and drove around for a while; after a few hours it went off indicating high levels of carbon dioxide getting into the car.

Once again the windshield wiper switch has failed and needs to be replaced yet again.

I sent Discount a certified letter with return receipt explaining the issues and concerns I had with the vehicle asking that I be allowed to personally return the vehicle for a full refund of the money I had already paid into the car and a mutual release to end the contract to avoid going through the Lemon Law process.

They received the letter on the 20th and the only response I have had from them was they punitively repossessed the car last night; which is a wrongful repossession as my account is current and the next payment is not due until the 27th.

In all the vehicle is unsafe for the road and the required repairs will cost nearly half the purchase price of the car.  I have tried calling Discount a few times today and my calls have gone unanswered; I have gotten no response to email or voicemails from them.

Do not do any business with Discount Auto Rental; Discount Auto Sales on Paradise Rd in Las Vegas NV.

Response for Discount Auto Sales

AUTHOR: lvdiscountautosales - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, February 27, 2016

Hello Mark,

It is very unfortunate that your experience with Discount Auto Sales has been unsatisfactory.  Our records indicate that you have purchased a 2008 Pontiac G6 at our 5030 Paradise Rd B 116, Las Vegas, NV 89119 on 12/22/2015.  As a part of a purchase process, you signed a form:  buyer's guide stating that the vehicle was purchased as-is (which means you will pay for all costs for any repairs and the dealer assumes no responsibility for any repairs.) and that you inspected the vehicle and overall condition was to your satisfaction.  You were handed a copy of all the paperwork signed at the time of the sale.

Our cars go through rigorous inspection before they are available for sale to the public.  Our mechanic has done all the necessary repairs for the vehicle to be operable and safe (receipts are available).  The 2008 Pontiac G6 had also passed smog without any concerns.  Per DRS and odometer disclosure statement, the vehicle was sold to you with 140374 miles.  It was my understanding at the time of the purchase that your intention was to work for Uber and Lyft, passenger transport companies.  Both companies require an inspection to make sure that the vehicle is safe and is operating properly.

At the time when we picked up your vehicle, you had both Uber and Lyft signs attached to the vehicle and trip logs in the car for both companies.  That leads me to believe that not only you had passed the inspections, but also you have been driving successfully for both companies for the past two months.  The log tracks your Uber trip to as recent as 2/23/2016. (see attached)  As stated above, the vehicle was sold with only 140,274 miles, and returned to us with 145,669 miles.  In two months you put 5395 miles on this vehicle. An average of 12,000 miles per year is considered the norm (google.com).  So in two months, not only you exceeded the norm but went through almost half of the miles allotted.  Since your vehicle is used for transportation and it incurs higher the normal wear and tear, you are the one responsible for the upkeep and repairs of the vehicle.

On 12/22/2015 you have signed a Contract for Sale and Security Agreement for Sale of Vehicle with Payment of Simple Interest that under payment schedule section clearly states that you are required to make 36 payments of $259.40 that are due by weekly beginning on 2/05/2016.  If the payments are not made, Discount Auto Sales reserves the right to repossess the vehicle (see the repossession affidavit you signed at the time of the purchase).   Your payment was due on 2/05 which you successfully made on the due date.  The next payment was due two weeks later on 2/19/2016.  We did not receive a payment and sent out a repo order on 02/24/2016.  We did receive a 10 day demand letter with the list of things that are wrong with now your car.

You did not make contact with any of the current employees of Discount Auto Sales to address or rectify the situation.  Our hours are between 9AM till 5PM Monday through Saturday and all of the phone calls are picked up and answered and there are associates in the office available to assist you.  Your mentioned numerous attempts to call us with no response.  You seem to have the correct number and address as you have listed on the Rippoff Report.

Due to the high car mileage and wear and tear on the vehicle, the KBB on this vehicle is a $1000 lower than when the vehicle was sold.  Due to the customer’s low credit worthiness and risk involved, Discount Auto Sales took a chance to finance him without job stability or proof of residence when no other bank or dealership would.

Due to the higher the normal mileage on the vehicle and your acknowledgement of the mechanical state of the vehicle at the time of purchase by signing all the paperwork, Discount Auto Sales takes no responsibility for any repairs needed for your vehicle and is not liable to return any of the monies paid up to date.
