to all those that are interested in opening your own retail store, do not open a dollar store, especially one from dollar store service aka discount retail store services. they are an absolute ripoff!! i opened mine with them a year ago and have regretted it ever since. everything about how they operate felt wrong but as a 1st time business owner i figured they knew what they were doing so i followed their lead not realizing the entire time they were just lining their pockets. they gave me bad advice on leasing the store space, on how to order merchandise, and what to do if sales started dipping. what i found to be their worst offense was the amount they spent building out my store! it was only after i closed my doors that i began researching how much drss spent on the fixtures and shelving as well as signage for indoor and out door. it was a ridiculous amount! display racks they could have purchased brand new for less than $300, they ended up spending nearly a $1000 for! almost all of the store shelvings were overpriced. even completely unnecessary items like indoor signage alone cost over $6000. why? why do you need to spend that type of money to build out a dollar store! overall all it probably cost around $20,000 just for all the shelving, displays, and fixtures, this isn't even including the merchandise! the merchanidse that were pre-ordered for us were crap. i had no say in what was to be ordered, even though it was my store. i opened my store in july of 2013. by the time i closed it the next following year, there were still items that had not been sold since they ordered it for me. no lie. now i practically have to give it away for free and still i don't think anyone would want it. there's so much more that i'd like to tell anyone who's interested in drss but i'll stop here. if anyone wants the real scoop on the drss process, please email me @dollardeals01@gmail.com.

i have never been so dissatisfied with a company before in my life. drss has pretty much ruined my dreams of ever owning my own retail store.
