I tell the man that I'm loking to buy some rims and tires for my car. I tell him I wanted the konig greenlight rims, so he does his research on the computer and tells me that all four rims and the nitto tires came out to $1200 plus tax. I left thinking that rims were realy expensive. That same day I'm at Hastings looking at magazines and pass an ad showing the same rims and tires for only $799 !!! I rushed over there before they closed and showed him the ad. He tells me some excuse about the ad not including tax, lugnuts, warranty and installation. All of that came out to about $900. That means he was trying to charge me almost $400 more than the real price!!! After this, I look into just about everything I buy. with $400 I could have bought a carbon fiber hood(used) for my civic

I work in a different region and maybe things work different in Texas, but they are not supposed to. No store is a franchise. All 687 stores are owned by one man. The only difference in pricing between stores is based on region and applicable taxes and fees based on location. Another thing, stores are not supposed to compete against each other. Grant it, a store's performance will affect the bonus a store manager gets stores are not allowed to compete against each other. In fact, I will honor any deal given to a customer from another store or even tell a customer what store they can go to if I do not currently have a certain product in stock and they cannot wait for me to get it in, which, in most cases I can run to the store and get it so the customer does not have to. While I am not denouncing the previous writer's story and believe it happened (although I think you talked the guy at the other store down because you had to drive there and we want to earn your business) it is policy not to do that. However, even I know this is not always the case because every manager is different.

I have an ex employee from Discount tire working for me

AUTHOR: Dennis - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 11, 2004

Cliffton,

Dont give up, we buy alot of tires from them for our business, heres somr tips from what my employee says ( he worked for them in Lake Worth Texas) Each store is some sort of franchise so each store manager/ sales staff has base price, from supply BUT each store will usually Sell at varing amounts, store owner/managers make bonuses on thier yearly sales for example true story..

I went to the store we use and spend alot of money at for our trucks, the good tires they have to order, This time I needed tires for MY personal truck the first guy told me the tires where like 235 each but would let me have them for 200, good deal right sure, but they werent in stock, so I got on the cell and called a discount tire in North richland Hills, Texas, I told him the story, he said come over he had them in stock and would put them on for around 170 and would waive the liftime replacement fee, of course the're on my truck now, but see the differance in cost geez same name store, call around see what you can do..

I have found Discout Tire to be on of the most honest companies I ever did business with!

AUTHOR: Tony - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 11, 2004

Every company hasw their own pricing structure. Obviously that structure either works for them or they are not successful. Discount Tire is one of the most successful Tire companies in the country. They not only match, but beat anyone else's prices and the company demonstrates the highest integrity in the way they do business. I will buy my tires ONLY from Discount Tire, as they have earned my respect, business, and loyalty over many years. Discount Tire: You can send my $50 later!! Seriously, I am just a customer, I am not connected with the co. in any way, I just think they are great and I have no problem not just reccommending them, but suggesting that my friends shop there exclusively for tires. I just wish Discount Tire would offer more automotive services.

You get what you pay for

AUTHOR: Richard - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, May 03, 2003

I have done business with Discount Tire for years and they have been very fair with prices. If you found an ad for the same wheels and tires priced cheaper in a magazine, chances are it was
their "mail order" company. These companies are cheaper because they have a warehouse somewhere that cost a tenth of what it cost to put a retail store in your neighborhood.

You have to decide if the difference in price is worth dealing with the "mail order" company through the mail when you have a problem (you may even have to ship the tire / wheel back at your expense)or being able to go directly to the store and have it taken care of that day.

You get what you pay for.
