On Tuesday, June 18, 2013 Janice Wickerd from Dish One knocked on our door saying the company she worked for worked with DirecTV and that she wanted to upgrade our service. Undoubtedly she saw our DirecTV dish on the roof and said not one word about how she was signing us up as a new customer with Dish Network. One of the questions I asked, more than once, was would we be receiving the EXACT same channels and her reply was, "Yes."

Our appointment was for today, June 21, 2013. I called Dish Network directly after reading the document I was left with by Janice from Dish One, feeling like something wasn't right. They told me that they had me down for an installation as a new Dish customer and that they did not carry the channels I had SPECIFICALLY asked Janice about. I immediately told them to cancel the appointment.

Intentionally withholding information to get someone to do something you want is exactly the same as lying and that is what she did by calling it an "upgrade." Also telling us anything we wanted to hear, "You will keep the same channels," is blatant lying to make a sale. This person and apparently the company she represents care nothing for the consumer and do care about nothing more than stuffing their pockets. To think I let this person in my house once it started to rain just to be taken advantage of and lied to for a few dollars.

Dish Network will never have my business now. I know this is an independent company but they choose to work with these people and I want no part in it. If someone from Dish One comes knocking on your door I would not give them the time of day, if you're not already a Dish customer. They will say whatever they must to make you switch, even call it an "upgrade" to your existing service.

Dont Stereotype

AUTHOR: Ole Richard - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, July 31, 2013

I usually dont read these sort of things, but my son asked me to examine this as a word of warning to me. I instantly understood the frustration of a stranger coming into your home and lying to you about a product in order to get you to buy. I however disagree with him, and the plaintiff, that slandering an entire company on the internet is the appropriate, or mature thing to do.

From my few experiences with door to door sales employees, they typically are young men and women who are most certaintly guilty of being over ambitious at times. However i again feel, that to judge an entire company by the actions of one entry level employee, is slander and stereotyping.

If a employee at Walmart or Best Buy told me DVD players and Blue Ray playes had the same movie selections (which is untrue) in an effort to convince me to buy a blue ray player, I certaintly wouldn't have nce things to say about him or her when i recanted the story. To imply that Blue Ray is responsible for the hiring of an employee at one its many reatailers is a unfair implication though. Who is to say that everyone in this company is as dishonest as Janice? Whos to say this young lady didn't simply make a mistake?

You (plaintiff) and everyone reading this should appreciate, or at least realize Janice is not using her obvious talent at convincing people to sign documents put in front of them (which they apperently didnt read until 3 days after this young women left) to truly scam or "rip off" anyone. You say she never said anything about going to dish correct? Why then, 3 days later would you call dish?  A tv provider you dont have, and have no knowledge of signing up for, and ask about your scheduling? You say a feeling?

I assume dish has refunded you, and that you are financially no worse off then you were before Janice came to your door. This seems to be a blatent attempt to slander all of Dish 1 employees based off 1 persons dishonesty, mistake, or misunderstanding.

These young people that work with these licensed companies are not the rip off. it is the unemployed criminals that pose as them that are the rip off. Dont judge all these ambitious young kids by one persons actions. Its stereotyping, and unfair to Dish 1 and Dish Network. By defintion stereotyping is when you judge a group of people based on your own and/or others opinions and/or encounters.

Im sure everyone reading this can think of a time when they fealt unjustly stereotyped or pre judged. Janice and her customer are the only ones to blame for this "rip off", which didnt mention any loss of money or harm done to anyone. Please dont be the type of person to kick the next dog that walks by because yours peed on the rug!
