I had the bundled package of internet, phone and satellite through AT&T. Dish Network was the satelitte provider. EVERY month I would have outragous amounts of porn charged to my account. Many in the same day during the day. HELLO? I have small children. I am not going to watch porn in the day and I HATE porn anyways. Well I called AT&T, they said call Dish Network. Dish network said NO REFUNDS. It's a fool proof system and there is no way you didn't order it. LATER I read somewhere that those remote can go through walls up to 150 feet. So I unhooked the box from the phone line. Still got charged. I know there are people that know how to charge other people's accounts and dirty workers that move charges around. I have also heard these same stories from other customers. My bill got so high with AT&T I could pay it and I lost all my services. I owe over $400. Probably the amount in porn charges. The problem is see when you have a bundle package AT&T pays the other people and then you pay AT&T. SO who do I go after? I want to file a class action. This is ridiculous. Why should I have something on my credit b/c a company ripped me off? I would like advice not only from AT&T workers but also Dish Network employees, and not ones that will cover their employers back sides. I want the truth. Anyone else with this problem let me know.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds
things to thing about

As a former employee, there are 2 things to think about on both sides of this issue. First, in order to order porn, one has to press the button to order, then confirm twice. In other words, in order to order ppv, the customer has to press the remote control 3 times to order. This person pressed the remote 3 times by accident over and over again? However, an agent can get the receiver number from the customers' account and then add the ppv without the customer calling in to verify anything. Just something to think about.

For future reference, always put locks on ppvs to require a pin-number. It takes about 30 seconds and is just a responsible thing to do. Problem solved. Little Johnny can't order them. Your cat can't sit on the remote and accidently order them. The neighbor across the street with a UHF remote can't order them.
Accidently ordering PPV movies is a hard thing to do, even without a lock though.
1. Just hitting select on the remote while on the guide will not automatically order a PPV, because after you do that, you are asked to confirm not once, but TWICE by selecting "Yes" out of three options, Yes, No, or Cancel, the default option of which is "No".
2. Even if someone or something did accidently hit all the right buttons in sequential order and the event got ordered, the event will not register in your purchase history screen as "billable" unless the event has been watched for longer than 5 minutes. If the channel is changed before 5 minutes and you never go back to it, it should not transfer the charge to your account.
3. When the event does register on your bill, agents can see a tag that will identify HOW it was ordered, whether via the remote, the automated system, internet, or an agent. If an agent ordered it, it also has a tag with their Operator Id. So even if there was a "dirty agent" doing this, they could not get away with it for very long! They have no way to hide what they're doing.
I'm not trying to say you're lying or that our system is 100% fool proof, or "covering my employers backside", but it IS pretty darn good, wouldn't you think?
The only exception this would be the neighbor with a remote that can control your TV. However, if this was the case, this could not be possible after unhooking your phone line from the receiver, because your receiver literally must dial a phone number to order it. Try to do it yourself to see. You will get an error message stating you must connect a phone line to order. It's not technically possible to order via a remote without a phone line hooked up at some point to dial out. Unless aliens are doing it magically. :)
However, the first time you called about this issue to complain, what the agent should have done is escalated the issue if necessary regarding the charges, and they should have walked you through setting up PPV locks, set your PPV limit to $0 and required an ordering pin# on your account to even order via the phone... or at least one or some combination of the above to ensure it didn't keep happening. We can do that. Just ask, if this is still an issue for you.
