Division Of Child Support Enforcement continued to charge for monthly obligation and fees after my daughter was emancipated in 10/2000. Rip-off! Flagstaff Arizona

The company I was working for was bought out(April 2002), I took a 40% cut in pay.I then advised the Texas Attorney Generals Office,they claimed I would have to wait 6mos-1yr to make any modifications(verified by year to date earnings).Finally finding out the process and not being able to afford an attorney and steadily falling behind in bills for the prior year I took the free route(I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!GET A LAWYER!!)and filed for a review and modification of my child support order through the Attorney Generals Office in Nueces Co. Texas July of 2003.Since then I have another son,I lost my home, vehicles,credit and now am falling behind in child support payments in which was automatically raised to pay for arrears EVEN THOUGH I had filed for a reduction review before there were any back payments owed!I am now un-employed taking care of my son(can't afford child care or a vehicle)while my wife works and she is the sole provider where we presently moved 1200miles to live in my father in laws home.

Now that I have maxed my credit,liquidated stocks,401k,sold just about everthing worth anything to try to hang since 2002,now going into bankruptcy and to add insult to injury the Attorney Generals Office is filing on me for Motion to Enforce.This 13 months after I filed with them to modify?

So maybe I wouldn't be where I am at now?So when I lose my job and miss a payment they AUTOMATICALLY RAISE the support?But they can't AUTOMATICALLY lower even when I have Filed and supplied them with all the requirments and documents for a reduction?

I wish those self righteous lazy finger pointing govt.employees would do thier job, open the Family Law Code books and actually read it instead of preaching about what little section of the laws they do know about and stereo typing all men "DEADBEAT DADS".

I have qualified for a reduction,have an additional dependant to consider(son),have been overpaying for 1 1/2 yrs and requested the review be heard while employed and was 6 mos before ever leaving Texas while there was still a chance to retain my home and vehicle.

It's almost as if the want to see how many lives they can ruin.

Who is to benefit?

Certainly not my children, my ex is happy that I am in ruin and most likely going to be in trouble with the State of Texas but not happy that I am not making payments now.

She never complained once about getting 50% of my net pay every month while watching me go down in flames.

I wish there was a band wagon to jump on and compain about the Texas Attorney Generals Office.

So now every body loses and they can move on to the next victims.

My ex gave up a 5 yr career in RealEstate to work in a bar and live on child support and welfare,where is the justice?

I tried to do right continuing overpaying untill it cost me everthing,now I am being kicked while I am down by the state of Texas and a barfly floozie.

So yes I guess you can call me a "DEADBEAT DAD" too,compliments of the good ole' justice system in the state of TEXAS.

P.S. Didnt mean to change the topic of discusion with my troubles ,but my father is going through the same thing you both are.My little sister is 18 and graduated this year and he has paid faithfully ontime and always current but is having hell getting the support payments to stop.

It's an epidemic! The child support system is a joke. My husband continued paying (or should I say being garnished) for his son until just before his 21st birthday!!! Granted, eventually he got a portion of it back, but it wasn't without more headache than I could possibly even put into writing.

And you're right. It's no wonder some men run when child support screws you over even when you do the right thing.
