I was dumb enough to fall for this scheme. I am a single parent and also unemployed. This company preyed on my vulnerability because I am desperate to find employment.
I was floored when I went in for my "training" and was not told the extent of this position until I gave the $165.00 deposit. Then he went on to explain what all I had to do. I told him before I left that I was not sure if this was possible for me to do.
I went home and was completely devistated because I knew that I had just been scammed. I went into the office and asked if I could get my money back. He said he would call me when he had it. I went back to the office two days later to see if he had the deposit and I was told that I was not going to be getting it back.
Something needs to be done with this company because they are preying on people.

#1 UPDATE Employee
The Company's Side ...

I work for Safety Enterprises and was the regional manager at the time of this particular complaint. Although I can not speak for each individual manager in the company I can speak for the way they are trained, and for the hiring process that all of our offices adhere to.
Like all applicants, Nicole saw our ad in the newspaper and came in for an interview. She sat through a 20 minute orientation where she heard about our growth and expansion plans. She was introduced to our product line. The entire training process was then explained, and written out, step for step.
She, like anyone applying for a job with us, was then taken into the managers office for a 15 minute interview. At this time more detail was given about the types of people who we are looking for and the kinds of traits that we want all of our trainees to possess. Nicole was also given the opportunity to ask questions or get further explanations.
The manager felt that Nicole had some of the characteristics that could help her be successful in our program and offered her a position with us. While being scheduled for her training she was told about the deposit on our supplies and the different ways it is refundable.
When she came back for training a couple days later she was again explained how the deposit was refundable while filling out paperwork for us. At the top of the contract it states in bold, underlined letters "refundable upon reaching management." This is exactly how it is explained during the interview and at training. The manager explained that to her. She saw it on the contract. She signed it. She sat through a three hour training class where it became apparent that there was actually work involved. Still, she could've changed her mind at that point.
When she returned the next day to ask for her money back, it had already been sent to our corporate office. Our managers mail their paperwork everyday. The manager informed corporate of the situation and at that point it really was out of his hands. He never mislead anyone. He never "scammed" anyone.
Oh, and by the way, Nicole did receive a refund. If she would've been willing to do the work and actually put the effort in and followed the training program that had been explained to her, she would've received a lot more than that.
