DM Dean, Inc (Matt Trombley), does not provide warranty for a brand new home here in Port Charlotte, FL. We hired this builder to build our home. Our home is 6 months old and we started to have some issues with some of the items of the home and unfortunately the Builder is not following the contract and is not providing the warranty.
First of all we had issues with the irrigation system. When we contacted Matt Trombley, after several attempts by phone and email he just sent me the phone number of the company that he used at my house and I needed to deal with them directly. Everything is subcontracted with DM Dean. Unfortunately though, for these companies I am not important; they do not know me and they couldn't care less about fixing my issues. They dealt with the builder not with me, so they do not care. Now my pool gas heater broke. I contacted the Builder and the same thing. He just sent me the phone number of the pool company and I need to deal with them. I called the company (Tropical Pool and spa) and they told me: "we just install them, we cannot fix them".... I tried to contacted the Builder again, but no response! My contract was with DM Dean Homes and not with the individual subcontractors. They are the ones required to provide a one year warranty but yet they wash their hands and send you to chase after their subcontractors.
It is sad that this company can be so unprofessional and shady. After I paid them evrything, they are gone forever. Zero accountability, zero customer service, zero honesty.
Please be aware, if you are planing to build a home here n the Port Charlotte, FL area, DO NOT use DM Dean, INC. You will regret it.

Tropical Pools & Spas located on Gasparilla Rd. proved today to be a dishonest company. First of the only reason the company came out to check the heater was because I had to call several times and follow up directly with them, no thanks to you or DM Dean. They had no record of you contacting them or the builder when we spoke with them. We called the technician today and recorded that "there was not a button that needed to be on". The heater needed repair and this servicing needed to be done by a technician who knew exactly what to. It is unbelievable what companies will do to cover each other's backs. This time we caught you! We forwarded the recording to our lawyer and we are analyzing further actions. Thank you Tropical Pools and Spas for showing us today what a lier you are. Good job!

As a represenative of Tropical pools and a dedicated supplier to DM Dean Homes we refute this online complaint to the fullest extent. As for the clients problem with the gas heater they notified our office of the issue, Additionally this was reported to us by DM Dean Homes the same day. The client was told that under the scope of our State license we are not allowed to repair a gas heating system. We are only allowed to install and plumb them to the swimming pool equipment. Wiring and gas hookup are required to be installed by the respective licensed professionals.
Once the client notified our office of the issue we contacted the respective repair company and they responded on-site the very next day. What the client does not say is that the heater problem "was that it was not turning on". It was found after onsite inspection that the client did not "flip the switch to the ON position".
While we value all of our many satisfied clients and any issues they may have with a product or service, We cannot be held resposible for ineptitude on the part of the client.
As for the issues with DM Dean Custom homes, while we cannot comment on the issues stated. We can however state that we have worked very closely with them for many years and we know unquestionably that they are highly committed to customer satisfaction and the quality of their homes are outstanding !
DM Dean homes is one of the most respected homebuilders in our area and the quality of their work and the sheer amount of contracts they get from referals speaks for itself.
