My child attended a rock-n-roll camp in July2007 at DHM in Lafayette, CO.It was $400 for a week of rehearsal, learning, a show and CD.We were told the CD would arrive within 2 weeks of the performance.

Within 2 weeks,my son checked the mail daily for his CD.After 4 weeks and no CD,I placed a call and was told technical issues delayed the CD.They said it should be no more than 10 days and they would have issues worked out.However,10 days went by and my son AGAIN,began excitedly anticipating the arrival of his musical masterpiece. However, the CD still did not come. We waited significantly longer than the additional 10 days. However, when October 2007 arrived,I was getting upset, watching my child be disappointed over and over again.I called and got a bit louder with my complaint.

Finally,at the end October 2007,the CD arrived. My son opened his package and stuck his CD into the player and we listened and listened and listened to all the other bands that went on his show day. When the CD ended, there were NO songs from his band.We listened to the whole CD again, just to be certain.Sure enough, NOTHING,from his group was on the CD.

I called to complain and was spoken to rudely and consistently treated poorly by the owner,Gary. He made me feel guilty for being upset. He said,he would look into the problem and see if they can recover the songs.Again,WEEKS and WEEKS went by with nothing from him.I called again and he finally said, all songs had been lost.

However,Gary had a plan to reunite the original band members and redo the CD in the studio.Well, here we are a year later and nothing. No REUNION tour,as promised. They tried to call everyone but they could not get everyone together at the same time.

However,NEVER ONCE did Gary mention a refund or redoing the camp in 2008 or a partial refund or anything. He just did NOTHING but continues to collect $400/camper. gave up trying to resolve it with them and feel forced to file a complaint because I do not want another family to experience their child's disappointment.

Dog House Music Response re: Chavez complaint

AUTHOR: Dog House Music - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, August 04, 2008

We experienced a technical problem with the recording during the week Ms. Chavez' son attended our camp last year, so that his band's songs were not on the CD of the live performance. When this was brought to our attention, we attempted several times to arrange for all the band members to come to the studio and re-record their two songs each time we tried to schedule the band, one or another of the band members or parents had a conflict. Once it became clear that most of the band members weren't motivated to re-record the CD, most parents understood the nature of the mistake and said they were content to let the matter go (and some sent their kids back to our camp this year). The parents who were still unhappy with the mistake were offered a half-refund ($200) or half-off another session. We felt that this was quite fair, since the cost of recording a CD (~$60) was such a small part of the total camp cost ($400), which also pays for over 20 hours of instruction, rehearsal and coaching, plus a live show. When we offered this, Ms. Chavez didn't indicate whether she accepted or not. However, since all the other parents seemed satisfied with the outcome, we assumed Ms. Chavez was also satisfied, especially since we did not hear from her again (after December 2007) until this complaint was filed.

To resolve this, we are happy to offer her the same $200 refund, or alternatively, to offer her son a free week of camp next summer, or in our fall or spring programs. However, we would also request that she post an update to the complaint she posted on ripoffreport.com on this same issue. We feel that it was unfair for her to contact BBB and ripoffreport.com without responding to our refund offer, or contacting us in any way to let us know that this was still an issue for her.

We have also sent this information to the Better Business Bureau.
