I went to lunch today at a gas station on here in Las Vegas. As I was pulling out to return to work, two guys in a van pulled up and wanted to sell me a set of speakers. I pulled back into the lot to check them out. The guys said that the speakers were "excess inventory" from an order they had picked up from a warehouse nearby. They said that this had happened before and their boss just kept the items. This time, they wanted to sell them and keep the money themselves. They showed me a professional looking pamphlet that showed the speakers to be worth about $3,000.00 for the pair. They said they would take whatever I could give them (but asked for $200-$300 per speaker). They even opened the box and pulled out a speaker and it looked great. Still, something told me this just wasn't right. You all know the old saying, if it sounds too good to be true... I decided to pass on the offer. The guys then went into full-blown, hard core, sales mode. They went as far as putting the a pair of the speakers into my Durango. When I still resisted, they said they would take $200.00 for the set. It was really tempting, but I still said no, they were just trying too hard and it didn't feel right. They told me I was crazy for refusing and they took took the speakers back and took off. When I got back to work I ran a search on www.google.com for the brand of speakers they were selling (DOGG DIGITAL) and found out this is a common scam (nationwide). I ALMOST took the bait, but I followed my gut feeling and walked away. Whew!!!
