I subscribed to a financial advisor service. market timing being a big part.. General advice about sectors such as gold. Muiti service approaches and varying costs.I took The Wellington Letter ($50 a month or $500 a year (not huge but the principle here) that promised updates one to two times monthly.

I logged in on Nov 26. about 14 days since the last update I had been getting two a month. . There was a solicitation on the home page( huge, colorful) for the Wellington Letter that ended saying," in fairness to  our subscribers we only give you an excerpt from this  update" SUBSCRIBE NOW. I logged in to the site and saw that I had not received an update on Nov 26. I sent a polite email simply asking if I had missed the update and that began a series of back and forth emails in which Bert Dohmen (or his rep) played with me as if I were an idiot. After 2 or 3 emails he would say "What service  are you referring to?' And "we have not given a report on the WELLINGTON LETTER" We told you the reports sent were for other services.(The front page of his website loudly hypes the Wellington letter on Nov 26 and gives advice up to the "in fairness" sentence.) and We TOLD you we had given updates from other services. The emails used LOTS of bold letters and were definitively sarcastic.always making me sound dumb..

The tone was rude and arrogant. I was floored.I had signed on to the service on a monthly basis charge but my credit card was charged the annual rate. After trying to get this straight without success I gave in and decided I would accept this.I had it on contest with my credit card for several weeks. Couldnt get a reply from Dohmen to this query and.I was afraid I would miss some big news.!! SO dumb.

The advice so far has not been helpful, I have lost some money following the advice but that happens with any service. Dohmen hypes himself so aggressively and dramatically that I should have been forewarned. Dec first, still no update. Anybody heard of him? Tread lightly.

I AGREE. HE IS A SCAM ARTIST

AUTHOR: Gcbr1 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 13, 2012

I used to be subscribed to one of his services based on his fear mongering advertising.  Today I noticed something VERY INTERESTING on his home page, which is the last 6 months of trading where the "so called" expert offers his misleading trade suggestions.  Here are a few examples:

Misleading Example 1: On October 4 he says he issued a "close out shorts".  now this would make me as someone who wanted to subscribe believe that his timing is impeccable and he told his subscribers to close out all shorts.  and here is the key, on that day he told subscribers to close out only some of the shorts. Not until October 18th hasn't he told his subscribers to close out ALL shorts.  By that time a tremendous loss has occurred.

Misleading Example 2:  He suggested investing in the heavy metals sector early September and suggested selling mid October, by that time his suggestions dropped around 20%.  That was a huge loss I suffered.  No where on his charts does he mention that he suggested long buys.

Misleading Example 3: Interestingly enough there is no mention of any trades he recommended after October 4th.  Well, as a former subscriber who has lost 10% of his portfolio I can tell you that he did not want to push the limit about lying too much on his website.

I read somewhere, if people like him were really that good at timing the markets they wouldn't be selling subscriptions.  Fear is a very powerful force and that Dohmen character uses it to his advantage.  Of course the markets will pull back at some point, of course this was not the last recession, but when you are a fear monger eventually you will be right for a short period of time, so that you can tell people: "see told you so, but no one wanted to believe me".  Look at his books that he is trying to push and the words used: "Armageddon".

As I said before, don't rely on any so called analyst who is selling subscriptions, because that is the way they are making money.  Why isn't Warren Buffet selling subscriptions???  Real investors - INVEST.  Fear mongers sell subscriptions.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM ARTIST!!
