WHAT'S THE POINT?

Here's the long story:

I live in an area where there are multiple condominiums across from a METRO station.  There are many illegally parked cars. The towing company has permission by our condo association (CA) to tow illegally parked cars to keep METRO riders from illegally parking for FREE and allow residents the opportunity to park near their homes.

I have had two run-ins in the past two weeks with this towing company.

1. A gentleman friend of mine helped me carry in some items after shopping and a restaurant.  He came in for less than 15 minutes, car parked approximately 30 sec walk outside my door. Car gone. I even had proof... a receipt from the restaurant that was paid within the hour. The company would not budge.

My complaint: They had to be watching us walk in and I am a resident of the area vouching for my guest. Can towing companies just abuse their power and there is no recourse?

2nd incident: After an event. I got in late. There were NO parking spots. It's the weekend and many early METRO riders can take our spots.  I parked in what seemed the last space. The next morning my car was gone. It seems THAT space was for the condos right next to us. Yes. It says "Vienna Crossing" in small letters on the sign -- did I mention it was dark?  The space is also, minorly distinguishable from other areas that we are able to park. It's only 2 parking spaces in an area that leads to a garage (where we only have 1 space that was occupied at the time). Our buildings are less than 20 feet from each other.

I called to let them know it was a mistake. They wouldn't budge. They told my car at 9:40AM that morning.  I didn't even realize the car was in a spot that I was not permitted for.

My complaint: I have a sticker for the condos adjacent to those. They know there's parking problem. Terrorizing tenants to make a buck is NOT ok!  The goal is not for them to terrorize tenants but, to enforce those without permission to be removed in blatant cases of abuse.

This is clearly predatory, abusive, and opportunistic towing.

Towing companies should be required to place warnings and THINK! They should not be able to tow without some effort and work involved. This is NOT OK!  I'm still trying to figure out some recourse!
