I am not NEW to the rip offs of talent agencies since I participated in one unbeknownst to me as a young adult.  I have a daughter who had great personality and is beautiful.  She is quite young and people constantly tell me to get her in print ads or on tv commercials.  I contacted several agencies and Donna Groff contacted me back telling me to attend her open call.  They would interview her and determine if they wouldlike to represent my daughter.  I already advised Ms. Groff via email that I was NOT looking to be asked for money up front and that I'm strictly looking for representation and if my daughter gets work they can take their fees out of her check.  Well, her email avoided all of that of which I thought meant that they do not do that.  Well, I called the day of my interview to ask more questions before attending and was cut off by the lady who answered the phone citing 'I just make appointments.  You will have to ask the director the details of fees when you come in for your interview'.  I should have known then.  I didn't want to waste mine or my daughter's time but I decided to go and just see what they were about.  Who knows?  I keep hope alive that there are good agencies out there and she touted that they were a 'christian agency'.  I beware when I hear that because those who tout Christianity can have the worst intentions and use their beliefs as an umbrella to operate under the radar.  Well, I'm a Christian too.. but I KNOW Christians.. So I researched online and couldn't find a lot of complaints about the agency and went to better business bureau and there were no complaints.  Hmmm..I did find out that they will try to send you to FL for some convention of which you will have to pay.  Well, I went to the appointment at the Germantown Great Hall.  I guess other's heard about her too b/c she had lots of chairs out for a vast audience but less than half showed up.  Then she began her spiel.  I listened cautiously.  She did confirm they go to Orlando twice a year where they display their talent in front of hundreds of agents for the talent to be discovered.  You pay for your fees and trip.  Then she said we must use the photographer that they use for a professional portfolio.  Red lights were already flashing loudly.. I posed a question of which she narrowed her eyes b/c she knew I wasn't the NORMAL dummy client while others were excited and hoping their child would be chosen for Orlando.  She answered me and confirmed  my suspicion that there is no true representation and they want 5% of your earnings AFTER you get work IF you're chosen for work but you must FIRST invest money in that trip to Orlando, then invest in their photographer..she mentioned classes too to groom you but I didn't even ask about the fees for that.. Once she finished she asked us all to stand to do an exercise before the interview process began.. I stood up and grabbed my kid and told her to head to the nearest exit.  What a waste of time!  She might have people working of which she's getting work for, but the odds of her getting my child work aren't guaranteed and investing first is nothing but pouring money down a sewer hole with that agency.  In the future, she needs to give folks the head up of what her agency about before hand.  She obviously does this once a month since she mentioned she goes to teh Peabody to scout too and she brings in crowds every month..well they say a sucker is born every minute...but that sucker wasn't me!  The Donna Scam Agency should be avoided at all cost!

Donna Groff is safe.

AUTHOR: MPerrin - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, November 17, 2016

We were confused in the beginning of our daughters career in modeling. After several years of being ripped off over and over again, we finally realized how it truly works if you want to do it right and most importantly, SAFE. AMTC is one of the largest organizations where models and actors attend to have an opportunity to actually see and feel what the "Big-Time" models and actors go through and to be able to actually meet or get their portfolio to the real-deal companies that do hire talent. It is rare to get a call-back on the first visit, however if you do, you may have what that particular agency needs for their customer. Donna Groff's agency prepares models, actor, & even vocalist on how to prepare for and excel in applying and actual auditioning. So many great performers and models are passed up because they did not know how to properly audition and or apply for a career in their trade. Her agency does charge for her services just as anyone who teaches Piano or gives vocal / acting lessons. As any agency would expect a small commission if signed, however they have never required it. They have prepared many talented individuals for events that have successfully been signed by an Agency that took them to the final step of employment. She does not employ talent, she prepares and instructs individuals on how to prepare and assists them at accrediated events like AMTC. (Actors Models & Talent for Christ.) Years ago when my daughter reached out to Disney to be an actress, I was shocked that they responded to her and that they only accept talent from non-sexual and explicit organizations and must have the same in their Agent. For that very reason, we ended up finding Donna Groff and ended up with 9 call-backs at our 1st AMTC event. Yes, you will pay up front for someone who knows all the big and respected agencies that employ talent. Not many agents have their own modeling contest that at their own expense, bring in the respected agancie to Memphis & or Little Rock, in order to mock the main event like AMTC, but also give her talented clients a special in person contact with the Agents who also help and provide a scholarship for the winner of the event along with other exciting specials. The Peabody in Memphis Tn is where the annual events happen during the month of November. So in closing, since I have been interrupted three times while trying to type this message, if you do not wish to pay upfront and prefer to just get paid directory by an agency, then Donna Groff agency is not your choice. Hopefully you are seasoned and know everything and everyone in the industry like she is. Then you can go direct, otherwise you might need to be a bit humble and pay for an Agancy that can and will prepare you for success. She has proven herself year after year with signed talent over and over. Donn Groff Models and Talent are everywhere. Donna is truly the stepping stone to success. She does not hold a grudge, so if you want your child to succeed and you do not have all of the above, you might want to call her back and start over. While I do admit their office helpers need better communication skills, it is worth the outcome of her services. You are paying for her and you get her and her knowledge one-on-one. You will succeed with her on your team.

Response to negative report from Ms, H

AUTHOR: Donna Groff Agency - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, October 29, 2012

As a Christian-based model and talent agency, we are thankful to have developed, marketed and placed, with integrity, talented performers for over 20 years.  Through the grace of God, and diligent training, our talent has succeeded in modeling, acting, singing and dancing all over the world. While our approach is not the only way to enter this industry, we have found it to be the safest and most effective way for our treasured young people.  All of our fees and policies are reasonable, published, and well within industry standards.  I hope the best success for Ms. H and her child.  If anyone has any questions about the Donna Groff Agency, please feel free to attend one of our courtesy auditions or contact us at  901-854-5561.

A Fool is Born Everyday, But You Aren't One of Them.. This definately sounded like a SCAM..

You did the right thing by leaving when you did. You should not have been asked to pay money up front. That is a MAJOR RED FLAG. This business will make a profit either way it seems. Whether you get placed or not. Especially with you having to use their photographers and pay to go to Florida and pay up front for the Conference. I believe it is all connected. I believe it is all one business that is set up to be deceptive and to extort money from people.

When I hear of people getting desperate and doing these types of underhanded businesses I get so angry but that is the nature of the world we live in now. These so called "Business People" falsely believe that people will believe them more if they dress up and say they have a "business" when in fact they are crooks and con artists.

Thanks for posting this and letting me know to make sure I avoid these crooks!
