I paid $33 for two tickets to the Sir Michael Rocks show on Oct 11th at Alhambra in Portland, OR. The headliner, Michael Rocks only played 3 songs before the show was shutdown by the sound guy who claimed he shut it down because one of the opening rappers was throwing water all over the stage and equipment despite being warned not to. When the sound guy shut the show down, the rappers started a "F*** the sound guy" chant expressing their disappointment at having the show abruptly and prematurely end. All paying patrons were quickly ushered outside and the venue was locked up behind us.

I was told by a worker there to contact the venue to request a refund, for there would be none given on the spot. I emailed the management at Alhambra who explained thoroughly the safety issues at hand with unprotected equipment getting soaked in wanter (ie: electrocution). He told me to contact Double Tee Concerts who, as the promoters of the show, were the only ones who could issue a refund. I emailed them three times over the course of a week and a half on their facebook page, as they have not listed email addresses or any real official website.

After not getting any response whatsoever for 10 days, I called them and talked to an Amy and told her my situation and my request for a refund of the $33 I had spent on the the two tickets. She said she'd get that to a manager and I would be contacted by the week's end. I was not contacted so I called them exactly one week later to follow up. I was told that Amy was not in and she could call me back tomorrow. I had not heard back again by the following day at 1:30pm so I decided to call them back (especially since they had not once responded to my inquiries still). I talked with Amy who told me that she was not allowed to issue a refund because the headliner had indeed taken the stage and played almost a full set... she said that according to a production manager who was there, that Sir Michael Rocks had indeed played almost his full set and the show was shut down when he had only two songs left, so no one there was entitled to a refund. I told her that even though I knew this was not her decision and I appreciated what help she had offered, this was ridiculous and asked to speak to her manager.

I spoke to her manager, I think her name was Carrie. She told me the same thing. She additionally suggested that I contact the artist himself to ask him for the $33... I mean come on, that is just preposterous. I told her that regardless of who was at fault for the show ending so suddenly, whether it was the sound guy or the performers, the people getting screwed were the paying customers. The performers got paid and the promotion company got paid, but the customers all got slighted. I told her that the headlining rapper played the remainder of his show out in the parking lot on top of his van with no mics and no music... not something a performer who was basically done with his set would have done. Carrie asked for me to hold for two minutes so she could talk to the "production manager" to find out why their recollection of the show was so different than my own.

Then a rude and yelling lady named Kathy got on the phone and immediately started yelling at me saying that I would not get a refund and that I needed to stop calling them (I called them only three times, all because they failed to respond to my inquiries) and that I was harrassing them. I asked her how I could possibly be harassing them and she said because I'd been on the phone with the previous two ladies for 20 minutes, tying up their afternoon. I told her I was a paying customer with a legitimate complaint and she yelled at me again to stop calling them and promptly hung up on me. I was appalled that this Kathy had treated me this way and hung up on me, a paying customer who was nothing but polite to them (never swore, raised my voice, or threats of any kind. Quite pleasant for dealing with a company who never got back to me like they said they would repeatedly).

This is absolutely the worst way to do business. All I wanted was a refund or credit for the $33. I'm not asking for anything unjust or unfair.  But to be treated like this, just dismissed because I have a complaint, to be accused of harrassment because I was on the phone with them for 20 min trying to get someone on the phone who had the authority to solve my problem, is dismaying to say the least. I have zero interest in ever doing business with this company again after being treated so poorly. I hope no one else ever has a complaint against them, as they'll likely be dismissed and accused just as I was.
