   I read your posting and it was great----I had not realized that the criminal took his FB page down re: the Premier Contracting business. It appears we are closing in on him. You have not stated the amount of money he stole from you and I realize this is sensitive but was it more than $500.00?  Or less?  I am so sorry ---what was he going to do for you re: your home repair?  You know, the day he came to my home and he asked to be paid , my first inclination was to say to him--but you didn't do anything yet . I let my guard down but was smart enough to decline his request for my debit card!! I told him no, I only pay by checks. Can you imagine where that might have lead to?  

The receptionist at the police station the day I came to file the complaint gave me some good advice---If they give you a buisness card and it doesn't have their license number on it (when claiming they are licensed) beware!  Also, she asked me what kind of vehicle did he show up in--a work truck or regular car?  It was a Ford Taurus from what I remember. That, too, is a dead giveaway according to her. So there are signs to look for.

I recently had an issue here at my home and now I call Homeadvisor---you can register on their site. These people carry an extra layer of protection since they are with this site so you can feel a bit more confident but it still is not a perfect guarantee on who is doing repair work for you. Learning from your mistake is the end game. Can we trust anyone any more?  Apparently, in this day and age with all the cyber invasions of private info and other nefarious schemes, it surely makes it difficult. At least we know better now.      I had previously warned this criminal not to come back to my home as we , both my side neighborns and myself, have cameras and he would wise not to show up. I will check out your post on CL regarding him. I think when Mr. Vu gets another complaint about him he may do something. He told me off the bat that he could do nothing unless I filed a police report. Well, I did. So , where did that get me. I don't understand why this moron would risk going back to jail but our legal and court systems are over loaded with cases and turn them out in fast numbers to do crimes again. It makes no sense but if you look at what is costs a state yearly to house, feed and medically take care of repeat offenders, it's ridiculous. I hope you have some kind of response as I am very eager to take this all the way. I am the type of person that has always been agressive in taking care of business, so to speak. When you wrong a person born under the sign of Scorpio, you better watch out!

No, I don't go to chiropractors at all thankfully but what happened to you is insane. Every  state has a board where you have to be licensed to practice law, medicine, accountancy, etc. has someone to complain to---realtors too. I am sorry you didn't get further info on what and who to file a complaint . Very sorry on that.    

Wow... you are really on top of things.  Too bad so many people just don't take the time to report scammers... I guess that's why they keep getting away with their actions.

I will contact Ms. Harkley and give her my story, too, although I do better writing out my complaints than talking on the phone.  I am mailing out my complaint to his parole officer today [Mr. Vue], and I submitted my complaint online to the Cabarrus County Police Dept.  They will all have my contact info in they need further information.  I hope my Craig's List posting will encourage others to report him, if they have also been victims.  

I couldn't help but laugh when you said that he threatened to sue you for defamation! LOL  Are you not afraid that he will come to your house, in a drug induced rage, and damage your property or harm you??  I have thought about that myself, because he lives only about 7 miles from me... unless he recently moved.  I am currently looking to purchase security cameras for around my house.  People are just to crazy and scary!!

I'm am so thankful that someone else [you] took the time to report him.  The only reason I didn't already is because I figured the police wouldn't bother with just one little complaint, and typically people don't realize someone is a scammer until they've been scammed! I feel so stupid for trusting him... especially since this has happent to me before, using a supposed contractor on CL.

Do you happen to go to a chiropractor in Matthews?  If so, and you would like to know someone to definitley stay away from, I will direct you to the info.  I was injured by an incompetent chiropractor there that cost me, literally, $10,000 out of my own pocket... and the attorney I hired to sue him was his patient, so he held my case and then dropped it 8 days before a hearing and only 4 months before the statute of limitations ran out.  No other attorny would touch my case because they thought something was up... and most of them said there just wasn't enough time to get a malpractice case together in time anyway  So, the chiropractor got away with it, and I am out $10K.  I created a Facebook page that tells the story.  If you are interested, do a search for My $60,000 Chiropractic Visit... you can search in your web browser on simply on FB.

I did not know I could even report the attorny to the State Bar, until a friend told me last year... I've never dealt with anything like that before.  But I have written up an 8 page complaint in detail and am in the process of tweaking it one last time before I mail it off.  I plan to get it mailed out this week.

Hello Again and thank you for your reply to my rebuttal. I should have also told you that I did file a complaint with the attorney general's office in Raleigh NC regarding him and I did stress to them that I was also afraid that he would cause harm or i-njury to someone based on his fraudulent statements that he is licensed to perform work.  Only just on Monday I spoke to a lady there---Ms. Maria Harkley. The letterhead is from the State Dept. of Justice ---Consumer Protection Divison. I urge you to call her at this number and relay your concerns---1-877-566-7226. Ask to be connected to her directly. This dept. based on my complaint has already sent this louse two letters to ask him to comply and respond to their letter. Of course, he as ignored them. The reference number is #1707009 at their dept. Please update me on any further information or settlement you may achieve. I , too, am well aware of how costly it is to proceed with a civil complaint. He already owes restitution to a party based on a felony conviction for over $6100.00. He had the nerve to tell me that filing was dismissed!!  How does a person like this act so unethically and expect to get by in society without people taking him to task is beyond me. Everyone in this life is judged---either by man or by God. He has a lot of explaining to do on both counts. Have a blessed day.  

Hi again... and thank you so much for this information!!  I was up untile 1:00 AM writing up a full complaint to send to the parole officer and Cabarrus County police dept.  (certified letter, of course).  I also found that we [victims] can report him to the State Licensing Board and even the BBB... even though he is not a legitimate contractor.  Both places will contact him, and I know the BBB will post the complaints on their website for the world to see.  :)  

It sounds like the police department just wanted you to go away.  Their suggestion to file a complaint is just going to cost you even more money, and you are not guaranteed to even get your $80 back, nor would it be worth the hassle or cost to you.  IF you take someone to court, and win your case [which you probably would] you only get a "jusdgement" not actual payment back.  It is up the criminal contractor to pay you... but if he doesn't, you have to take him to court again, and pay all those fees all over!!  Just to have the police serve him will cost you $30, and don't forget the $96 just for filing the complaint!  The police knew this, yet told you to file the civil complaint anyway!?  Here is a link to the the list of fees just for fileing in Cabarrus County:  http://www.nccourts.org/Courts/Trial/Documents/2017_court_costs_chart_civil.pdf

Our laws seem to be set up to protect the criminals.  They get away with things, while the victims are left paying to hire attorneys, file claims, and go to court... most people don't have the time or money to do that, so the crooks just keep ripping people off.  Recently, I found that in NC, you can't sue a contractor [licensed or not] if the payment/contracted amount was $400 or less.  I can't remember where I found that info, but it was stated pretty clearly.  So, if that scammer knows that information, he can just keep doing what he's doing because he is protected by the law!!!  That's some crap, huh??

     I did file a police report with the Indian Trail police dept. and spoke to Deputy James Godwin there. He contacted Mr. Everhart and Mr. Everhart stated he would return my $80.00 to the police dept on a Friday evening. That was sometime in June but he never did. I contacted Mr. Everhart again via cell phone text and said where is the money---I called him a thief and guess what his reply was back to me?  He was going to sue me for "defamation of character". LOL.

   Dep. Godwin referred my complaint to the DA in Union County and they would not handle it --guess it was too small an amount. They told me to file a civil complaint in Concord against him. I may do that. My advice to you is to contact his parole officer whose name is Tony Vu.  The number for the Cabarrus Parole office is 707-782-0824. Mr. Vu won't get back with you right away but keep hammering until he does. They continue to let this bum slide by and he should go b ack to prison. Do yourself a favor and take photos of him on your cell phone and send them to him via text message as I did.  He continues to advertise on Craigslist?  What a nerve!  

When you call the deputy above , give him the case #2017-05626 which is what he gave me as a reference number. He should r emember me and the case as it was not long ago. This criminal needs to be stopped . Maybe the complaint from you will be a push in the right direction.

Hi.  I too have been ripped off by this scammer.  Like you, did my reserach on him after the fact... which is too late!  I reported him 3 times to Craig's List with my concerns of him not just ripping people off, but possibly harming someone... due to his long criminal history!  They didn't care, they didn't respond, and his postings are still there today!

If you can, you really should report him to police, and print out and mail your complaint to them.  I am in Cabarrus County, so when you report him in Mecklenburg County(?) you can let them know that someone has also reported him in Concrd.  I should be sending the police department my documentation by the end of this week (hopefully tomorrow, though).  

I'm with you... NO MORE hiring these jokers from Craig's List.  This was the second time I was scammed by someone on that website.
