In 1972, I had an interuterine device dalkon shield. It ruptured and had to be removed.

I have lost two babies and my youngest son has had medical problems since birth.
I have had a hysterectomy. Now they tell me I have onset lupus, fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease and have been disabled since 1990. I had always worked but now I can't. Having to live on 850.00 a month.
Never received any compensation or even recognized as a claimant.

Before 1990, I was driving an 18 wheeler across country. My speciality though is communications. In the 80's, I was bringing home 700.00 a week. That is quite a loss.

I am still not use to getting this small amount of money to live on, if you want to call it living.

Let me tell you, even though I would like to go back to work, once you are on SSD you are considered a liability and age also has a factor, unless you want to work at a fast food joint.

If the company would only admit their fault and compensate. But, what is a baby worth? Can you put a $ sigh on a human life? My answer is NO !

Thats All !

NO

AUTHOR: Stacey - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 30, 2010

The Dalkon Shield was a contraceptive intrauterine device (IUD) developed by the Dalkon Corporation and marketed by the A.H. Robins Company. The Dalkon Shield was found to cause severe injury to a disproportionately large percentage of its users, which eventually led to numerous lawsuits in which juries awarded millions of dollars in compensatory and punitive damages.

Robert is right - and my question would be did your Physician state that your disability was related to this IUD? Wyeth now owes the defunct company

Mislead? Really?

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

So the NY Times articles from the late 80s are wrong?

So the Federal Court Records are wrong?

So the women who DID COLLECT from the class action and over 1 BILLION SETTLEMENT FUND are wrong?

What makes you believe that Dow Corning is responsible rather than A. H. Robins Company?

All the historical media articles, COURT RECORDS, and text books state A. H. Robins Company.  This case is FAMOUS for a company (share holders) being REWARDED for marketing a dangerous product.  Many law students were required to read up on this during the early 90s.

I think you better do a little more research and uncover the truth. Evidently you have been mislead.

Why Dow Corning?

AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, April 30, 2010

Why is your report about Dow Corning?  Dow Corning had nothing to do with the shield- it was A. H. Robins Company.
