I want to warn everyone about a company out of Los Angeles California. I paid a company called downtown colo along with a man named Attila $6583 plus put 75 of my computer servers down at his location. After paying for Colocation services and bandwidth, plus power and everything else needed to do my internet business's, this man made every excuse why the services would not work properly. First it was the power, power circuits kept blowing up and damaging my computers. I confronted this man named Attila about this and he would always say the words its a NON ISSUE. I told him it is a issue because I had signed a contract with him and his company for this power never to go down. (redundant power APC generators) Well that was just the begining of the first month and only month of service. He also promised internet access, (bandwidth) that was never provided as well, it was by far the worst bandwidth my company has every used. When asking Attila why this was the way it was he would say it's a "NON ISSUE", after not having internet access to my servers at downtown colo, I decided I was going to go down myself and pull my servers out of his location. ( I spoke to him on the phone for hours and hours trying to resolve this, everything was non issue) When he found out I told him I was coming to get my servers he demanded I show proof of ownership. So I emailed him proof of all of the serial numbers of the servers, he said that was not good enough and do not bother to come out because he would not allow me to take them (I had paid my bill in full). So I called Los Angeles Attorneys and police to find out if they could me have my property returned to me. 75 servers (20,000 dollars worth of equipment). The police told me they could not help me and the attorneys said I would have to sue him for 5000 dollars to start. I thought this was just insane, all I wanted was my computers returned back to me. So this is why I am posting this, buyer beware of downtown colo.

In my opinion this company and man are a complete rip off scamming data center. No matter you say No matter you do, this man will tell you whatever you want to here. They cost me and my partners 100's of thousands of dollars. After later investigation, we found out they deal with company called Blue Sky and spam operation. (That would make sense of the scam eh). I kept persisting to get my equipment at least back but because they were in California, I could not do it without a major lawsuit.

So everyone be careful.

The issues with power were due to you not buying enough power for all your machines and overloading the breaker, we are a collocation facility and we cant control how much power your machines use. Also the bandwidth was fine and tested numerous times at a full gigabit. The issue you continually said was caused by a layer 2 switch as you stated over and over "layer 2 is old you should use layer 3", please check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSI_model as layer 3 runs on top of layer 2, as such a layer 2 switch being used IS a non-issue and is not any more "old" then layer 3, in fact without layer 2 you CAN'T have a layer 3 connection.

All the problems you had were related to your application and setup, like when you said our network was causing issues with SSH, when in reality it was just a difference in the default behavior of "tail" on one version of Ubuntu compared to another and had nothing to do with SSH or the network in any way.

Any issues you have with hardware ownership is between your former partners and you. Neither Downtown Colo or any affiliated company is a party to any action or claim related to hardware between such companies. We are not a court but rather a data center. You need to take that matter up with your old partners and your lawyers. I think you know that quite well so I am puzzled by this email.

Any hardware in the possession of an entity is their property unless there is a court order. Just like when the servers in your cage had a claim made against them. Do you remember? We maintained that they belonged to you and did not let anyone lay claim to them. Because they were in the space belonging to another entity then the one making the claim. That is how it works.

Deep down I think you know that we have always acted fairly and worked like hell to provide top notch service.

I am saddened to see you resort to untrue, malicious and illegal practices. I would very much encourage you to rethink your actions as they can have potential consequences.

Wish you the best and I hope you can get matters sorted out with your former business associates.
