I am so torn about this breeder. I have read all of the complaints listed on previous postings, when she went by Doxie Garden and then later, Pet Doxie. Some of the complaints are very disturbing and concerning. At the same time, I can see how a puppy could not initially show signs of an illness and don't think we can always blame the breeder for something that is beyond their control or foresight. Since I was not involved in any of those transactions, I can't comment as to how they might have been (mis)handled. 

I can, however, comment on my own experience. I purchased a doxie puppy from Yelena, and he is the light of our lives and the most amazing dog I have ever had. He is now 4 years old, he is very smart, funny, sweet and loving. He is super social -- he likes playing with most other dogs (but gets intimidated sometimes by really big dogs) and he absolutely adores meeting people. He loves people so much -- his tail goes crazy and he's ready to share kisses with anyone who is willing. People are always commenting on how soft his fur is and how handsome he is.

He is also very healthy. He has longer legs than what you may expect from a dachshund. We were told that this is intentional in the breeding, that as such they should have less back problems than other dachshunds. Our vet called him our little quarterback, as he has a broader chest than some and is "sturdier"-looking than some doxies I've seen that seem somewhat fragile.

I could not be happier with my little boy. We are considering getting him a sister. If it wasn't for the disturbing reviews I've read from other customers, I wouldn't hesitate to return to Yelena. I feel like our doxie is the best testament I could ask for. So I'm left wondering if he is a fluke. If the dogs are kept in bad conditions and are truly puppy mill puppies, if she is a "scammer," how could I end up with such a perfect little boy?? I just don't know what to think.
