I went to Dr. Arch Gordon for treatment for my two year old cat because he was vomiting and not eating well. I was refered to him by a friend, and had great expectations of him until I met him. Dr. Gordon was very arrogant and quick with me. I was very nervous because this cat is all I have. I have no family. He rudely tells me " It's just a cat, not a human so please relax" after he sees me shaking visible. He said all he has is a stomach virus and perscribed me a prescription for $175.79. I did feel relieved and ignored his rude behavior thinking my problem has be solved. The bill was completely outrageous when I left. For the blood work, office visit, examination fee, prescription, etc... the cost came to $521.27.
I gave my cat the prescription as directed and he only got WORSE! More vomiting and he started to become very lethargic. I called the hospital and asked to speak with Dr. Gordon. She tells me he is busy "Who's calling"? I told the receptionist everything that was happening, and she was completely obtuse and uncaring! She simply tells me the next available appointment was Thursday which was three days away. I asked if she could get me in sooner considering my cats rapid decline, and she says "NO, like I said the Dr. is busy".
Long story short, I return three days later and the Dr. says almost nothing to me. I tell him the whole story. He then gives me a dirty look, and says he will be right back. He disappears to the back of his office with my cat and does not return for 20 minutes. I went to the receptionist and asked what is going on? The staff tells me to be patient after I've been sitting in a dirty room for 20 minutes. Dr. Gordon finally calls me in and tells me he has a malignant tumor that needs to be removed immediately. I'm shaking like a leaf, and asked are you sure, and will this save his life, etc..
He tells me that if you love your cat this needs to be done to save his life. I asked if he could do it today or tomorrow, and he became irrate! He starts yelling at me and says "The world doesn't revolve around you and your cat lady". He said he could do it Monday morning at the earliest which was another 3 days away. I agreed, but was totally taken aback at this man's attitude. I called my friend and told her I am thinking about going else where. She tells me to stay with him, he knows what he is doing. So I regretfully do.
He calls me after the surgury and tells me everything went well, and he will be fine. I get the bill and it's in the thousands, so just pay it in hopes all is now well with my cat. Aprrox. 1 week later my cat went to sleep on my bed beside me where he always does and never woke up. I tell Dr. Gordon about what happened, and he simply says "Get another one".
I strongly feel this Dr. killed my cat and took as much money from me as he could. I believe in God, and I know that Dr. Gordon will face his wrongdoing one day. He is a greedy cold money-grubber, and his staff is cold as ice as well. Please do NOT take your pets to this so called Dr. He will destroy your life as he has mine.

we have taken 2 of our last dogs to dr gordon and have always found him to be caring and compassionate. with our first dog he helped us get through an agonising time with a brain tumor. he was loving and caring with us and our best dog bud byron. He coud not have been better.
with our new pup he has helped all of us through illness and in health with the most loving and caring attitude. This also goes to all of his wonderful staff.
Perhaps this person did go to a different place or perhaps he/she was so grief stricken missed the compassion in the air?

We are very sorry to hear that you lost your cat and had a bad experience but we have not billed anyone for over $ 2,000 this year. We have not seen any 2 year old cats for surgery in the last year , and I have not performed any such surgery .Indeed , I would have referred you to a board certified specialist for an ultrasound and surgery elsewhere. I am led to believe this is a case of mistaken identity , as there are many hospitals very close to us. As a matter of philosophy, I do not believe that a pet is just a cat or just a dog and would never say such a thing . Also, we have been in business for over 20 years and would never delay an exam for a pet for 3 days -- it would not be compassionate or good business on our part.
